In my search for Australian/New Zealand recipes for ZWT, I came across this recipe for the Bondi Chicken Burger. This is a copy cat recipe of the burger made famous at Oporto, an Australian and New Zealand restaurant of Portuguese influenced foods. Time does not include marinating.

The story is these biscuits became popular during WWI when wives would make these for their soldier husbands because of their firmness and since they don't go bad quickly. In the States, Golden Syrup is becoming more available. I can find it in the British section of my grocery store and just recently found it in the baking aisle. If you can't find it, you may use 2 parts light corn syrup to 1 part honey as a substitute. I'm submitting this for ZWT and am just guessing on the yield since I haven't made this yet.

Recipe #370409

I found this on an Australian food blog. If you don't have self-raising/rising flour you may use all-purpose flour, just add 1 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt to each cup all-purpose flour.

Recipe #370565

A New Zealand beverage.

Recipe #370686

A New Zealand biscuit (cookie). Golden Syrup is becoming more available in the US. I can find it in the British aisle of my grocery store and recently found it in the baking aisle. If you cannot find Golden Syrup, you may sub 2 parts light corn syrup to 1 part honey. These should get really hard and are often dunked in tea. I haven't made these yet, so I don't know how many it yields. The cooking time is per batch. I have posted the mixed spice recipe I found to go along with this if you cannot find mixed spice near you.

Recipe #332730

A simple New Zealand candy/sweet. Golden Syrup is becoming easier to find in the US. I can find it in the British section and recently found it in the baking aisle. If you cannot find it, you may sub 2 parts light corn syrup to 1 part honey.
