This is another great recipe from the Patti LaBelle cookbook. It is simple, easy and great tasting comfort food. I usually skip the water and double the beef broth. Also for extra richness I will add some red wine to the sauce before putting in the oven.
A great punch recipe to be served at Christmas. My mother served it every year for as long as I can remember. I usually make this one as it is green, and I usually make a red punch as well; therefore I have both prominent Christmas colors for the perfect Christmas theme.
I don't even like Pork, but was tricked into tasting this dish when I was told it was chicken. WOW! The meat was sooo tender and juicy; so tender in fact, that it was literally falling apart! It was like nothing I'd ever tasted before! Definitely not like my mother's hard, crusty pork chops! lol! This recipes goes hand in hand w/ some mashed potatoes. Note: Make sure you whisk in the flour early while you are melting the butter with the garlic to avoid a "floury" flavor. The flour is important to avoid a thin sauce.
This sauce is very versatile. Add grilled marinated chicken for a great Chicken Alfredo. Add sautéed shrimp and scallops with Old Bay Seasoning, white wine, shrimp stock, and chopped green onions for Seafood Alfredo.

The closest OLIVE GARDEN is an hour away and I will never drive that far again just for Alfredo sauce. I promise this is the best sauce ever. Definitely a dish you would want to impress your guest with.
I don't know if this is Popeye's recipe, but I've had it for 30 years and it makes great biscuits. My highschool home ec. teacher had it in a church cookbook. I always bake these in an iron skillet and place a pat of butter on top of each biscuit. These biscuits remind me of my grandmother's cathead biscuits.
These buttermilk biscuits are authentic. This recipe came from my great-great-grandmother, and was handed down to all the women in my family, and we are all Southern. I am the first one to commit the sin of using a food processor (lol) but I find it works very well. I would put these biscuits up against anyone's - they are perfect in every single way. I hope you all enjoy them.
Thanks Paula Deen (FoodTV) for the best fried chicken I have ever made! It has a nice, savory flavor and a coating that has just the right amount of crispiness. It was a good thing I had an extra cut-up chicken in the refrigerator because my family was begging for it again the next day. Although it calls for what seems like a lot of hot pepper sauce, it isn't any spicier than Jack-In-the Box's Spicy Crispy Chicken--you can take it!! FYI I made this using 10 pounds of wings--enough of the hot sauce/egg mixture to cover, but you will need to double flour mixture if you want to do this much. I'm not saying it tastes like KFC--only that you won't be doing business with them anymore.
This is a fabulous recipe for oven fried tilapia slightly adapted from Paul Prudhomme's wonderful "Fork In The Road" lower fat cookbook. I served this for dinner with family and it got rave reviews. Even my picky 5 year old eater enjoyed it. The ingredient list here is long, but is mostly spices. Please don't be put off, this is wonderful stuff and once you get the spice mixture combined, quite easy to make.
