Hamburger Skillet Dinner a Fresh Take on Hamburger Helper
    Handle

This is a super helpful recipe I found in a "Company's Coming" cookbook. The whole family tucks into this dish with a salad on the side. I also like it because it follows the technique of Hamburger Helper (read: easy to do) without having to buy a box from the store.

For the garlic lover. This is great served with a side salad, french bread and for the true garlic lover, a head of baked garlic to spread on the bread. The combination of red and green peppers makes for a nice presentation.

    Cream Sauce for Swedish Meatballs

    31 Reviews |  By wizkid

In England, swedish meatballs are very available and cheap. They are very good with the following cream sauce and boiled potatoes. My son, who has to be one of the faddiest people on the planet, found this delicious. This is from the cookbook 'Ikea's Real Swedish Food Book'.

    Favorite Ground Beef
    Handle

Ground beef taken to a sophisticated level and, oh, so easy to prepare. Recipe notes: -- I prefer to use sirloin ground beef, but if you don't have that, the fresher the ground beef, the better. -- The beef base I use is "Better Than Bouillon" as it gives the ground beef a pot-roast kind of flavor, but you can use two cubes (or packets) of your favorite beef bouillon instead. -- Brown onions work just as well as red onions. Just be sure it is a BIG onion. I usually serve this with a tomato-garlic-mint salad (see recipe for this) and a large mound of vegetables, such as broccoli, maple-glazed carrots, baby green peas, grilled zucchini, or grilled cauliflower. I invented this when my then-four year old son was extremely picky about what he ate.

Baked pork meatballs -- Could be made with ground beef, turkey, or a combination of ground meats. Serve meatballs as an appetizer with sauce -- or for a main course, double the amount of sauce, add stir fry vegetables and serve over rice.

    Beef and Noodles

I was looking for a recipe for beef and noodles that didn't use any sort of condensed soup. I found one at Better Homes & Gardens and made a few changes to come up with this. I use Homemade Noodles (recipe 27344) for the noodles, and they absorb a lot of liquid so this is pretty thick - if you like it thinner, adjust accordingly (I've not tried this with purchased noodles but they may make a difference as well).

    Steak in a Garden
    Handle

Tasty and colorful beef stir-fry. Original recipe by Lucille Treat, posted with a few changes. The secret to making this recipe is to have everything chopped and set out in order of addition to the wok. I've used a Dutch oven before, and it works, but not as well as a wok. Serve over hot cooked rice. Prep time does not include getting the steak partially frozen.

Comfort food at it's best. Really delicious with smashed potatoes and salad or green vege. And it freezes really well, making this a nice option for OAMC too.

The aroma of this roast made DH and DS drool. I had a beautiful roast from the market and wanted to try simple spices yet aromatic! This is what the doctor ordered for a very chilly January day. DH and DS loved it!

This is comfort food. When my husband's grandmother passed away 25 years ago a neighbor sent this over to my mother-in-laws house, it was very well received as all the other neighbors were sending over cakes, pies and jello salads. We have been making this ever since. Hint: Put this together the night before and finish it off when you get home from work.

My daughter adores this recipe. She often requests it be prepared when her friends are coming over. I sometimes add pepperoni slices on top of the cheese and mushrooms in the meat mixture.

This is probably the first thing that I ever learned to cook. My mother used to cook it while I took a nap as a child, and the smell would wake me up. It's really garlicky and the wine gives it a nice flavour. It also freezes really well. Enjoy!

Beef stew the way my grandmother used to make it! A good hearty dinner on a cold winter night, served with lots of warm, crusty, Italian bread for dunking into the sauce, mmmmmmm....... Tastes even better the second day.

These are sooooo great (and EZ)! I grew up eating these about once a week and they are incredible with mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles and a veggie. While this recipe is basically my mom's, I have changed one thing...instead of using chopped onion in the burgers, I use an envelope of onion soup mix...it gives them the PERFECT flavor! This is now one of my family's favorite meals...try it and it will probably become one of your's, too. P.S. These burgers also work for grilling (without the gravy :).
