Very old recipe used cake yeast in original. There was no sugar in the original recipe but I like it better with vanilla and sugar. it raises like crazy put in big bowl. its very light and fluffy and doesnt hold well ,so serve immediately You can make this and refrigerate overnight which is probably how they did it. Let it rise once or twice, stirring down each time before putting in refrigerator is what it says. Put the eggs in the next day. Take out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before you start to get batter fluffy again. It says serve with applesauce or crushed berries. It is awesome with real maple syrup. The batter sticks on the waffle iron so butter or Pam the iron.they do NOT make good pancakes
A great spread for pancakes, muffins and toast.
This butter smells great and adds just a little orange flavor to what ever you use it on.
For a pretty serving idea use half a hallowed out orange as a serving dish.
Orange flavored waffles. I found this recipe in a Round Waffle Bakers leaflet. I have not tried this recipe, but I'm posting this for safe keeping. This recipe did not give serving size or cook time. When I made this recipe I used Splenda in place of the sugar, the butter, I only used the grated zest of one orange, I also added 1 scoop of protein powder. I thought these were a bit heavy, so is the batter and when I scooped out the batter due to it being so thick I had to spread it. When I made these waffles I got 6 square waffles. Overall I thought these had great flavor.
These are a delicious savory waffle that can be used as a bed for your favorite chili or meat gravy. They also make a mean sandwich when split in half. The recipe has the instructions for both gluten free and regular. Leftovers can be stored in a sealed plastic bag and toasted as needed.
