From "The Fitness Kitchen" by Shelly Sinton and inspired by Sally Schneider's recipe in "A New Way to Cook." Like a faux ice cream that tastes sublime without the heavy cream and sugar. Need frozen banana slices so need about 1 hour ahead of time. Finished dessert can be frozen in an airtight container and thawed for 30 minutes before serving to soften.

You will have a hard time believing that this frozen treat is not really ice cream, but is a good-for-you all fruit dessert. I serve this to the kids in the family and they love to build their own sundaes. It melt fast, so serve it right away or stick it in the freezer.

If you love ice cream - this is a healthy vegan alternative. You always use a frozen banana as a base for vegan ice cream, but you can use any frozen fruit that you want - mango, raspberries, strawberries, peaches etc... You could also add dates, orange juice or maple syrup if you want it to be sweeter

Easy, Creamy, and no overpowering soy taste to it.

    Recipe #191125

This recipe was tested for a book review. Never having made soy based ice cream I was a bit concerned but Wow! Really good! ***Cook time is at 0 minutes. It depends on YOUR ice cream maker.

Enjoy this old time favorite, then watch how everyone screams for more ice cream. (This recipe is from the cookbook "How It All Vegan".)

From a blog to die for.. I mean an ice cream to die for. From www.browniepointsblog.com originally. Other variations possible.

    Recipe #142572

I have young children with food allergies to milk, eggs, and chocolate who wanted mint chocolate chip ice cream. I credit a recipe posted by LonghornMama from Cooking Light magazine for ice cream using tofu. I altered it quite a bit, playing around with the flavors, and I turned it into an allergy free treat. Thanks to LonghornMama for the start to this recipe!

    From Vegetarian Times Aug.

I know this probably sounds a little unusual, but I got it from vegweb.com and I'm curious to try it (haven't as of yet...). I actually think it sounds amazing, but I am obsessed with granola, peanut butter, and ice cream! It got good reviews on that website, so we'll see. This does not require an ice cream maker. It didn't specify, but I'd say a few hours in the freezer after it is made should do the trick.

A very refreshing ice cream! It really hits the spot on a hot day. If you have leftovers, bear in mind that making the ice cream without oil makes it healthier, but it will freeze harder than your regular ice cream. I usually stick the container in the microwave for about ten seconds so it is soft enough to scoop. Still delicious!

This thick sweet sauce is made in no time (5 minutes)! Has a hint of refreshing orange and lemon and warming cinnamon and cardamom. Serve over ice cream, cheese cake, pancake waffles or put into a trifle!
