These cookies are better than Grandma's!
It's important to use both shortening and butter in this recipe. The butter makes them soft on the inside, and the shortening makes them crisper on the outside. To frost them, I use equal parts of butter and cream cheese, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, and enough powdered sugar to pull it together.
With this easy refrigerator dough, you can mix the dough two days ahead and shape the coffee cake the night before baking. First thing in the morning on Valentine’s Day, all you need to do is to bake this delicious nut and cinnamon cake and bring it to your still sleeping sweetheart.
Another Valentine delectable! These are fun to make and sooo good to eat! I love the richness of the cookie with the chocolate icing. They are also very pretty on a plate once they're all decorated. Great for a Valentine party!
A granita is sort of like sorbet (but icier)...sort of like a refined snow-cone. This one, with mango and raspberries, is a dazzling ruby red. Cook time is freeze time. From Better Homes and Gardens February 2002.
