Treats (not quite snacks or desserts!)

I guess most of these are dessert-y type foods that just don't fit into the other categories; fruit, ice cream, Jell-o or other such miscellaneous yummy things!!

These were our favourite after-school treat in the 1960's - lovingly made by our grandma. Just three simple ingredients and hardly any preparation. Not only do these luscious treats look like beehives - you'd swear they had honey in them. After keeping for a while they might weep a little sticky liquid through the bottom - but don't worry, this makes them taste even yummier.

    Recipe #113994

This is my grandmother's recipe. This salad is present at every holiday meal or special occasion. It is a great treat any time of the year.

A melt in your mouth chocolate and toffee fudge that’s easy to make and a joy to give.

    Recipe #149041

Can't remember where I found this recipe, but it's great for Mexican night, or Cinco De Mayo!! (New Note: If you use the new Special K cereal with cinnamon and pecans, this is REAL delicious! Add the sugar and not as much cinnamon, no butter, and you don't have to bake it! Very crunchy and SO DELICIOUS!!! I used about 1 1/4 C Special K.)

My daughter made this at Girl Scout camp, though not exactly gourmet, it sure is a fun and tasty treat for the kids to make. We use it ourselves now when we go camping.

Build an Oreo turkey with Oreos, candy and frosting. This would be a fun activity for (school-age) kids at a Thanksgiving gathering to put these together. They can display them at their dinner place and eat them for dessert....if they can wait that long. The recipe I am listing will be to make one dozen turkeys.

More candy than cake really! When I was young, and way before that, this was seen pretty frequently around Bermuda in small shops. Nowadays, you may see it at a charity bake sale or the occasional corner shop run by Bermudians that still keep in touch with the good ol' days!

This is an old Bermudian favorite with school kids. A charity bake sale is not complete in Bermuda without glass candy! I'd walk away from the sale empty handed and disappointed if there wasn't any! You'd see me happily walking along the sidewalk with a piece of yummy glass candy wrapped in either a sandwich bag or waxed paper sticking out of my mouth, if they sold it! :-)

In Bermuda, baked bananas with a dash of rum has always been a favorite; and here's a really yummy dessert.

Another recipe from TOH that I haven't tried yet, but it looks delightfully sinful!

You'll want to make a double batch of these truffles. SOOOoooo easy and soooo good.I store them in the freezer and find they are still good after a couple of monthe but the original recipe said store in fridge and for up to a week. I reccommend that you use "Slide" no stick foil

Strawberries dipped in this cream mixture are so light, refreshing and good! You can play with amounts used but I love it as directed. Leave on the strawberry tops to use as a handle to dip. Enjoy!

Eat alone or top ice cream or any other dessert with these delicious carmelized bananas. Can be prepared in the kitchen, on the grill, or over a campfire.

One more S&W recipe, which is where I go for fast and easy recipes, when too tired to cook, or in a hurry to get dinner on the table.

Tired of campfire S'Mores? Me neither! but here's a new alternative to the ol' campfire s'more. It's as good as the carnival Churros... but it's not fried!

    Recipe #81204

This recipe is from the May issue of Family Fun magazine. My kids loved this delicious sweet treat and request it all the time now!
