    TOMATOES

Since we grow tomatoes in our vegetable garden, I collect tomato recipes. Green tomatoes make terrific jam, or bread them and fry them as a side dish! Fresh tomatoes are great in salads, soups, and homemade sauces for pasta or casseroles. Slices of fresh ripe tomatoes, alternated with slices of mozzarella cheese, topped with your favorite oil and vinegar dressing make an easy every day salad.

A refreshing winter-time salad using canned tomatoes. It is also delicious using fresh sliced vine-ripened tomatoes. I make recipe #177703 #177703 for the dressing.

    Recipe #270585

This recipe came from an old issue of Better Homes and Gardens. I've been making it for years, and it is a family favorite. I like to serve it with some grated cheese on top and/or a dollop of sour cream. The original recipe called for straining the soup after pureeing to remove the seeds. I skip this step, as I don't mind the seeds. This soup freezes well.

    Recipe #182645

Posting this for safekeeping, since I'm postively drowning in recipe clippings and cards. I don't usually like cream soups, but this one I love! Recipe from Wilson Farms in Lexington MA. Servings are a guess.

    Recipe #170483

This recipe came from "Canadian Living" magazine. I find that this recipe uses items you would normally have on hand and it is very simple to make.

    Recipe #51397

This is a basic simple marinara but big on flavor, it can be ready in 1 hour or you can cook it longer and even tastes better the next day that is why I strongly suggest to make this sauce 1-3 days ahead and refrigerate as the flavors will blend and intensify ---this freezes well so make a double recipe and freeze a batch for the next meal, you may omit the wine but I strongly suggest to add it in, it really adds flavor to the sauce --- please make certain to purchase only good-quality canned Italian Roma (plum) tomatoes for this it will make a huge difference to the flavor of the sauce --- all ingredients may be adjusted to suit taste, this sauce can also be simmered for a longer time in a crockpot, throw in some fresh mushrooms also if desired --- also see my recipe#71273

I found this on the web some time ago--I don't have the source. I've made it a couple of times and liked it...the cloves are a suprising ingredient, but they really make for a different-tasting take on tomato soup. Hope you like this!

A wonderful, comfort food that fills the house with a wonderful aroma. Originally from Vegetarian Cooking by Linda Fraser.

I love tomatoes. I grew 20 different types of tomatoes this summer. I also went a little crazy with bell peppers. I came up with this recipe and boy is it good! Grill cheese sandwiches and soup, Oh my gosh!

I made this for lunch yesterday, with some beautiful tomatoes my mother gave me. YUM! We had it with grilled cheese sandwiches. Heaven in a bowl! I hope you like it as much as I did!

Now that the garden's in, this is what's for dinner. The recipe is a little tedious, but so worth the effort. It was taken from the internet years ago. Enjoy!

This is the BEST TOMATO SOUP ever!! (I actually do not like tomato soup.) I used this recipe the year we had a bumper crop of tomatoes. I lost the recipe and finally found it after a four-yr. search. It is from Taste Of Home. YUMMY!

Another fabulous recipe from www.meals.com. Use fresh, ripe tomatoes for a full flavour. This low-cal, heartwarming soup is great served with freshly toasted crusty bread.

    Recipe #34998

This is the tomato soup the canned soup companies dream of. Can be made with Italian style or grape tomatoes.
