A delicious looking and sounding recipe I was sent from Clean Home Journal. Healthy buchwheat meets luscious chocolate! ;)

    Recipe #301941

This is my own family recipe for the traditional Algerian 'Sables' cookies. These sables are very easy to make & are a real favourite in our home. We like them with strawberry jam filling & icing sugar dusting or with apricot jam filing & dessicated coconut finish... but you can use any of your favourite preserves (if they have fruit pieces in you should sieve them before using. I have a special 4cm fluted sables cutter but you can use any cutters. I oftern use star cutters then punch out the small round centre by using a small metal bottle top (like on food colourings), or round cutter & using a small star, heart or flower cutter for the centre. These sables freeze nicely in layers separated by parchment or waxed paper in an airtight container. Allow to defrost in a single layer then dust the tops & fill with jam.

Great for cooking outdoors when weather permits.

Found this recipe while looking for an Iraqi chicken and potatoes dish requested in the NA/ME forum. (From chicken to cookies, yes my mind wanders.) Saw this and thought it would be a great addition to 'Zaar for all my cardamom loving friends. The original recipe is from "The World of Jewish Cooking." Posting for some future ZWT.

    Recipe #187849

Grilled curry chicken legs Recipe from Penzeys Spices. The Cilantro does have to be fresh for this recipe to make the paste. Buy the big package of legs; they’ll be gone in a minute. If you are lucky enough to have leftovers, these legs are great cold, too. The amount of CURRY POWDER called for will end up spicy-tasting, but not overly hot, which is a good middle of the road when feeding a crowd.

Polo (a Central Asian variant on the word pilaf) is a food staple found across Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and parts of northwestern China. The different peoples of each region have their own takes, and their own flavors, for the recipe. This recipe is for Uyghur polo, the variant of the dish found in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Uyghur food is on the whole closer in taste to Indian, Persian, or Mediterranean food than it is to conventional Chinese food. I credit this recipe to my Uyghur language instructor. The recipe can be a challenge to cook correctly at first, but the challenge will prove well worth the effort because it is absolutely delicious.

A traditional Middle Eastern dish. Try this with half beef and half lamb for a more Armenian taste.

Environmentally friendly, no harsh chemicals! We tried the expensive cleaners and found our floors still looked streaky and dull. This homemade cleaner makes them look bright, streak free and beautiful!

A very quick and easy Middle Eastern salad that can be made in minutes. Sometimes I add a little cumin to this or sprinkle some cayenne pepper on the top.

This tastes exactly like our local Syrian pastry shop. Recipe acquired from http://www.yasalamcooking.com

I got this recipe from my boys' preschool teacher. I haven't tried it yet.

    Recipe #452599

Yummy sweet gluten free breakfast that is pretty quick to put together once you have the syrup on hand (This recipe makes extra syrup for a couple of delicious times). DH asked if he can have this for breakfast often. I made this up when I was racking my brain for a gluten free, egg free breakfast without our typical rice crackers. Please do use the mango syrup & keshta or don't rate.

My MIL makes this for DH and herself when they have eaten something that upsets their tummies such as bread (gluten intolerance)! I say change the sugar to honey to be much healthier and do avoid gluten next time. I'm not sure how it would taste to omit the sweetener altogether but feel free to do so, this is for your health, taste buds come second. NOTE: Wild oregano leaves & anise seeds are mandatory, the other herb & spice may be used depending what you have on hand. I understand in Arabic wild oregano is called za'atar, not to be confused with the Arabic spice mix also called za'atar. It is not regular oregano either and neither is it thyme although it may be translated from the Arabic to mean wild thyme.

This is yummy. DH dictated this recipe to me from memory to have as a quick pretty healthy late night summer snack. It's similar to salads served with rice through out the Middle East.

    Recipe #480898

My father is from Iran and this is the way he makes it. It makes amazing, fluffy rice with an amazing crispy crust! You have to try this!

    Recipe #423313

This sounds really easy! Someone please tell me how/where to buy cheesecloth and I will make it myself! Dh got me Cheesecloth!!! Thank you everyone that let me know! Now I just gotta get this done!

    Recipe #181517

A very light and refreshing salad that goes well with everything. The longer this stays the better it taste. You will also notice that the liquid increases as the salad sits.
