This is what I came up with for my traditional Irish recipes which called for "mixed spice" after posting a question in the 'Zaar forums. It works for me, and my baked goods come out tasty.

This comes from an episode of "Cooking for Real" with Sunny Anderson. The brining portion is all that is listed here; however, if you are interested in the chicken recipe in it's entirety, it's called "Grilled Chicken with White Wine Mushroom Sauce". I needed a brine for a smaller amount of poultry.

    Recipe #345741

From "Pacific Fresh" cookbook, an easy sauce for busy days. I've used it when making manicotti and of course, over plain pasta.

Not overly sweet. From the Wisconsin Dutch chapter of the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Arts Institute of Chicago, 1947. While this recipe is written in an old-fashioned way, it is perfectly safe if processed using modern methods. If you are unfamiliar with these techniques, please go to http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/how/can_home.html for the current information.

    Recipe #10830

This is an old way of making a teriyaki sauce with honey instead of sugar, giving it a more pleasing sweetness. It's great for marinading and dipping with any kind of meat dish.

    Recipe #173607

Given to me by my children's grandmother. Those of Greek heritage love this and so will you. This is great served with pita wedges or as a creamy dressing for gyros.

    Recipe #138075

I always seem to not have buttermilk on hand when I need it. I've used the powdered milk and vinegar version of this which works well, but today I didn't have any powdered milk! This substitution that I found on the internet works just as well.

    Recipe #124413

This is a quick and easy alfredo sauce, and I always seem to have the ingredients on hand. I don't claim it is authentic, but it is tasty, with the addition of garlic. My picky son LOVES it!
