This recipe is posted by request. Original recipe is by Steve Brill.

    Recipe #70105

posting this for ZWT 2006 this is a wonderfully easy version of Asian Plum Sauce. it is great with egg rolls, used in a stir fry, just as a dipping sauce for so many things. You can spice this up a little by adding 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes

    Recipe #172468

A tasty snack or appetizer. Tofu cubes are very crispy outside, yet warm and soft inside. Sort of like Asian "french fries". And i simple love the sauce, even used it as salad dressing sometimes!

    Recipe #69191

This is a colourful and attractive dish that is both delicious and healthy.

This is just FAB!!!!!! Also great to add asparagus, zucchini, peppers, eggplant, mushrooms, onions to the marinade. Then grill! Serve this hot or chilled.

Excellent, very similar to those found at the Wild Oats market.

    Recipe #83344

Found this recipe in the slashfood blog. It was adapted from It looks so lovely and I cannot wait to make it. Will post more notes once I have had a chance to cook it.

According to a Providence Journal article, Amara's was a natural food and vegetarian restaurant on Wickenden Street, back in the days before Providence was a major culinary city, and before natural foods became popular. One reader wrote in to the Projo asking for this recipe and one other. I clipped the recipe months ago, and have been meaning to try it out. Serving size & cook time are guesses based on my past veggie burger-making experience.

    Recipe #287258

I am taking a "Healthy" Cooking class, sponsored by the university where I work. One assignment was to make-over a recipe to be more health conscious. Because I am a vegan, and unfortunately can't eat many of the dishes prepared in the class each week, I decided to make over the recipe VEGAN. The original recipe was a lasagna with a meat and cheese layer. I have substituted the full fat ricotta cheese layer with my Tofu Basil Ricotta and the "meat" layer with a vegan version of my grandmother's homemade ravioli filling (traditionally a mixture of ground beef, pork sautéed with onions, garlic, spinach and spices) This was also the first time I used the "no-bake" lasagna noodles! : >

    Recipe #279709

This is a classic breakfast item, best served with puris or parathas. It can also be served as a side dish.

    Recipe #253519

Creamy and delicious...the perfect alternative to the normal Alfredo. Completely vegan and WAY less fat! Sometimes I add a package or can of spinach to the sauce to give it a twist.

    Recipe #277715

I made this up and it's fantastic! Very time-consuming, but well worth the effort. (When I say here to bathe the spinach, I mean fill your sink with cold water and shake the spinach in there for a while to get the sand off the leaves.)

    Recipe #277734

What is the holy grail of vegan food? Macaroni and cheese of course! I think you will like this recipe if you're looking for a close substitute for traditional mac and cheese. This comes from Fat Free Vegan Kitchen.

    Recipe #277771

Excellent warm or chilled! Variation: May substitute dates for raisins. Cinnamon may be substituted for pumpkin pie spice.

    Recipe #276510

This is crispy and soft at the same time. Experiment with the mushrooms and maybe add some bitey Asiago or Parmesan cheese (I can't). Great with a big, crunchy salad.

    Recipe #163777

Wonderfully earthy, like ratatouille, only without the tomato. Use really good olives! I don't use the bell pepper for health reasons, but it adds great color.

    Recipe #149991

This is from Food to Live By. Everyone loves this side dish. I noticed there is one other recipe posted on recipezaar that is very similar to this one. There are a slight change of ingredients and the preparation is a bit different.

    Recipe #274054

If you ever had homemade fresh yuba in Japan you know what a delicacy this is. Well, you can make this yourself! You can make yuba either by soaking soy beans or buying soy milk. I don’t buy soy milk and instead purchase soy beans online from a farmer in Midwest. Plan on spending some time making yuba. You can skip 1-4 in directions if you are using store bought soy milk for making yuba (don't use sweetened soy milk). Serving size is a guess depending on it's purpose.

    Recipe #264732

From Vegan Planet. These came out so good, it was almost like a dessert. I altered the recipe a little due to ingredient availability in my fridge, but I liked how it came out.

    Recipe #271432

This lasagna is low in fat and is much better for you than most lasagna recipes. This recipe started with the back of a lasagna noodle package recipe, but has been altered to a vegetarian or vegan recipe along with other alterations. Many of our friends (most of them not vegetarian or vegan!) request this dish from my husband for get-togethers or parties. It’s always gone in minutes. Many times we use fresh Asia Eggplant in place of spinach as it is in abundance here in Asia and in our opinion tastes better.
