Instead of buying a bottle that will sit in the fridge for ages and takes up space. I find it easier to make my own garlic sauce for when I eat falafel. It is a lot cheaper as well. Also you can adapt it to your own taste. it is very easy to make and takes up no time.
This is a typical Persian beverage that is enjoyed by many Iranis and has a flavor that is not unlike a cross between grape juice and lemonade with a touch of flowers. It truly has to be experienced to get the full understanding of how good it is, and it goes wonderfully as a complement to any Middle Eastern meal.
Try rubbing this chile paste on meats or fish before searing or grilling, or stir a small spoonful into some mayonnaise for a sandwich spread with a kick. Also mix a dollop into butter and toss with steamed veggies or couscous. The hotter the chiles, the hotter the harissa, so experiment and use sparingly to taste. Enjoy!
This is such an easy recipe, nevertheless it is complex with rich flavor. I ate this dish often in Tunisia, where, incidentally, I first began to eat tomatoes when I was nearly 30 years old!!! The sunny mediterranean produces tomatoes that are intense with deep aroma and flavor. Chakchouka is a summer dish in Tunisia.
My love of eggs - for breakfast, lunch or dinner - is no secret. So when I came across this one I knew it was a likely winner. Have not tried it yet but posting it with the original ingredients. I will most likely reduce the calorie count in my own rendition.
This was a basic veggie sandwich that I came across and tried. It was very bland and lack luster in it's original form. This is my revised version, it now has life, good taste and interest. One of these sandwiches will make lunch for DH and I.
Entered for safe-keeping. From June 2012 Vegetarian Times. Yet another version of this spice best known as seasoning in Moroccan couscous, as you will have to experiment to find your favorite version to suit your taste preference and spice availability. Compared to my Recipe #374781 #374781, this version has much less cinnamon, and a lot more ground coriander, and it uses smoked paprika. Ras El Hanout can contain up to 50 different spices and vary in heat and intensity. VT said its version is mild and simplified, yet full of flavor.
