The Realtor's Healthier, Diabetic Recipes

These are my recipes that are lower in carbs. They may not be lower in fat, though. You will be able to substitute splenda for the sugar in many of these.

This is quick and very addictive. The original recipe came from a magazine, I 'm not sure which one. It's probably from bon appetit. I have so many from that magazine that I've saved. I have tweaked it a little to suit my way of doing things.

Recipe #376311

This is from the May 2009 bon appetit magazine. They did a story about heritage pork which is tastier, smaller and marbled better. I"ve just been using regular chops when I make this but if you have access to heritage pork, I'm sure it would take this recipe to a higher level. I posted this just the way it was written in the magazine but I always cook my chops for longer than this recipe says. There's just no way to get them fully cooked in that short amount of time. I basically double their times for the chops. You can figure on this taking a good 40 minutes if you're using the thick chops that are called for.

Recipe #383858

This is another great recipe I found in an old recipe box that I purchased at an estate sale.

Recipe #383957

You'll love these! Kids have so much fun making these. You can make them in dixies cups or popsickle molds. You can usually get the popsickle molds at the dollar store.

Recipe #384010

There are so many recipes for Italian dressing out there but I had to share mine. Because, of course, mine is the BEST! After the first time, you'll want to double this recipe.

Recipe #384154

Use this zippy, tangy sauce to coat your meat and baste with when broiling.

Recipe #384173

I love salads! I love Boston lettuce, too. Give this one a try. It's refreshing and different. If you can, make the dressing several hours ahead or the day before so the flavors can blend.

Recipe #385347

Here's a nice little vinaigrette that I found on the eating well website amongst their diabetic recipes. They say you should do this one in the blender so it will be creamy. I did and it was perfect. Make this one several hours ahead or the day before so the flavors can blend.

Recipe #385349

I found this on the Eating Well website amonst their diabetic friendly recipes. I haven't tried this one yet but it sounds like a real winner.

Recipe #385354

I found this recipe on the Eating Well website amongst the diabetic friendly recipes. It's supposed to be an appetizer but I served it over a nice salad as a cool, refreshing summer dinner. We loved it. The shrimp are super simple to prepare and they tasted great hot or cold although they are meant to be served cold. Serves 12 as an appy but 6 as a main course.

Recipe #385352

This is a nice way to serve round steak. The long cooking times tenderize the meat quite a bit and it's very tasty, too. I serve this over buttered noodles with corn on the side for a very satisfying complete meal.

Recipe #385432

It's challenging trying to eat right, especially when there are so many wonderful recipes on this site to try! This one is delicious but still lite. It's low in pretty much everything so it fits into several eating plans including those for diabetics.

Recipe #386436

Serve this classic Italian dish with thin spaghetti or garlic mashed potatoes. It's very quick and simple to do but everyone will think you did something amazing. Use the best steaks you can for this.

Recipe #386770

Once in a while, we still have to have a rich, tasty, dessert even when we're diabetic or dieting. This one has about 1/3 less carbs than a regular lemon velvet cake. It's still a little high if you're watching your carbs so mind your serving sizes. It's NOT low carb but it is significantly lower than regular.

Recipe #398075

How about a new twist on citrus chicken? Instead of lemon, this one uses grapefruit juice for a whole new angle on an old favorite. I loved this simple, tasty dish. It's perfect for the family or company.

Recipe #398077

Yum! Tastes like pumkin pie but without all the guilt. I love that these are already portioned out so I never overdue it.

Recipe #398119

Try this delicious and simple way to serve pork. It's quick to the table and seems like you spent alot of time making it. I serve it over thin spaghetti. It would be equally good over rice.

Recipe #398174

This is a very simple, tasty dressing that you can put together in less than 2 minutes.

Recipe #398176

What a great dressing this one is. It's very thick and almost like a dip. To thin it down, I add a little bit of milk until I get it to the consistency I like. You can do the same thing and make it just the way you like it- thick or thin- you choose.

Recipe #403051

This one is a lower fat version of Thousand Island dressing. It's great and you don't even miss the extra fat and calories.
