Every Christmas my friends and family look forward to this in the cookie tins I make for all of them. They get very upset when I do not make this. It is so easy to make. However, you will want to give them away as soon as possible because they are very addicting.
I love this recipe because it is so easy to make and yet it always gets 'oohs' when people see the candies and 'aahs' when they taste them!
I've gotten several z-mails asking about the candy coating. They are wafers that you melt to then dip candies into to coat them. They are usually sold in the candy section of craft or baking stores. I've seen them in the candy making section of Wal-Mart also. If you look at the ingredients photo on Recipe #104941, you'll see a photo of them. They are a different 'stiffness' than white chocolate chips but some reviews have successfully used those when they can't find the candy coating. Hope that helps!
These balls are so quick and easy to make. They make a nice addition to the baked goodies that you give as gifts. Make these about a week before you want to serve them as they mellow and the sharp strong alcohol taste blends in more with the other ingredients. Store in a tin with a tight lid. This year I couldn't find the Vanilla wafers so I used chocolate and I like them even more. To form the balls I use two teaspoons as the dough is quite moist. I store them in the freezer - they don't go hard and they are so good ice cold
The cutest, delicate mice you ever saw! Everyone remarks about them. I give trays of assorted cookies each year and place them on top. They just make it! It actually is a help when the kids can put on the almonds. I don't remember where I got the recipe, so I gave the best measurements I can recall. It sounds like it could be a Hershey's recipe!? For adults you can strain the cherries, then add rum or almond liquor and soak overnight drain and dry proceed with recipe. Save the rum for drinks.
These are amazing! Better than York's because the chocolate is so much thicker. The yield is a guess as the recipe is from a friend who made them at Christmas and gave them as gifts. Fortunately, I was one of the recipients.

These are so good. I have to make 2 dozen for my grandmother every Christmas and she refuses to share them. She actually hides them and pulls them out one at a time! I really have no idea how many this makes as I usually double or triple the recipe. Also it depends on how much of the center you like . UPDATE: some people have had difficulty with the filling being to runny....adding more powdered sugar is not going to alter the taste so feel free to add another 1/2 c to a cup with out worry :)
From the December/January 05' Taste of Home Magazine. I'll be trying these scrumptious sounding truffles for gifts this coming holiday season! Oh by the way, this won Grand Champion candy recipe in the candy contest! Cooking time is chilling time.
We have been making this fudge at the holiday season for years, if cooking time is followed directly this will produce a wonderful fudge that tastes just as good maybe even better than the fudge prepared with a candy thermometer but you won't need one for this! --- this is sure to become a favorite at the holiday season --- use only store-bought full-fat eggnog for this :)
