This rice combination with the wild rice gives you a nice crunchy taste. The saffron strands add a very delightful flavor and the crushed cashews just top it off. I started this combination or rice about 12 years ago to the delight of many.

Nice change from potato salad, goes well with BBQ meats, good with "Marinated Flank Steak".

    Recipe #12187

If you love onions like we do, especially when the Walla Walla sweets come into season (and it's not that far away), you should prepare yourself for this wonderful vegetarian dish which we make for dinner with a side salad. Even though we aren't vegetarians, we LOVE these wonderful onions. They can also be served as an impressive side dish to a meat/fish entree....healthy and delectable. Thanks to Better Homes and Gardens.

Oh, I just love rice pilaf! This one is from a Swanson Broth Creative Cooking recipe pamphlet. Just remember that the broth is already diluted, so don't add water! Also, feel free to add other herbs of your choice.

    Recipe #123047

This recipe is good with grilled chicken or steak. I got this recipe from a news web site here in town and thought it sounded great so I thought I would share it.

Can be lightened by using Turkey bacon or Turkey sausage.

    Recipe #8543

A lovely long grain and wild rice pilaf with touches of fruits and nuts. Perfect for serving with chicken and turkey. Different from the usual stuffings. Cook time is concurrent.

Tried this Emeril recipe over the holidays. It is definitely a keeper. A delicious corn pudding.

    Recipe #150351

I have recently made a concerted effort to introduce more grains into my diet. Both healthful and delicious, this makes a lovely side dish for pork or chicken.

    Recipe #163161

This dish has become a family holiday favorite. I have tried many broccoli-rice dishes and this one is the best in my opinion. See what you think.

    Nutty and delicious

    Recipe #129684

I modified the original recipe. This is a very pretty and tangy tasting salad. The wild rice and pine nuts add a nice crunch to an otherwise slightly boring salad. Be generous with the feta and serve with tomato slices. This would make a nice potluck dish.

    Recipe #152132

I made it up and fell in love!

    Recipe #136299

Fast, easy, and delicioso! If you use the recipe and make the sauce yourself, you will have a lot of sauce. Perhaps make the rice to serve with enchiladas, or reduce the recipe so not to waste it.

An excellent and colourful low fat side dish for holidays or anytime. Try this as a stuffing for baked squash. Prep time does not include cooking time for the rice.

    Recipe #38774

From a local community cookbook. Great side-dish.

I came up with this recipe while I was trying to get rid of some leftovers and refrigerator odds and ends. The crisp beans, creamy squash, and savory seasonings complement each really nicely. If you have rice and squash already cooked, it's a snap to put together. Serves 2 as a main dish, 4 as a side.

This recipe comes from "The Eating Well with Diabetes Cookbook". It makes great use of the dried shitakes I always have on hand. It is low in fat and high in fiber.
