Adapted from An Edible Christmas. These are soft, tender cookies. They can be frosted, but do not have to be. I like them with royal icing. The yield will depend on how large you make them. Time does not include time for dough to chill.

Butterscotch as in butter and Scotch! I got this from the Driscoll's website. It's a flaming sauce meant to be served over ice cream or cake. It's impressive to watch, but be very careful when lighting the Scotch.

A 1997 court order now prohibits this product from being labeled "whiskey;" it is now sold as ManX Spirit. Scotch whisky or Irish whiskey may be substituted.
