Cherry Pie is one of my favorites. I like to use this recipe when I have canned sour cherries. The frozen pie shell is a huge timesaver. However, feel free to use your favorite pie crust recipe by all means. This pie is lower in calories and fat than some other cherry pie recipes so you can enjoy your holiday dessert even more.
This is a recipe my mother-in-law and I used to make for Christmas. It was her recipe and hopefully I have deciphered everything correctly from her recipe card. The dough has to refrigerate overnight (not included in preparation time). This recipes may seem complicated but it is really not that difficult. It makes a lovely dessert or breakfast for special occasions or holidays. The braids can be frozen for a couple months. This recipe makes a lot so you can share with others.
I saw this recipe recently in Family Circle. My son loves Oreos and anything Oreos so I think this will be his birthday cake! Can't wait to try it. Fresh whipped cream makes this homemade cake extra special.
These banana fritters are a cross between a doughnut and a pancake. They are as good pan-fried like a traditional pancake as they are deep-fried as called for by the recipe. The recipe is adapted from "Cooking Up A Storm." This is a New Orleans breakfast classic.
