You will not find a better sugar cookie anywhere you search, this will most likely be the only sugar cookie you will use, not only are these cookies buttery delicious, the dough is an absolute dream to work with, it rolls out easily and is easy to handle, also the cookies hold their shape when baked something many sugar cookies do not do --- make as many different colors as desired in separate bowls with the icing, the cookies must be completely cooled before icing --- plan ahead the dough must be chilled for at least 2 hours before rolling -- since these are topped with icing they are not a sweet cookie if you want a sweeter taste then increase the sugar amount

From the Weight Watchers Website: "No party is complete without holiday sugar cookies. Use different shaped cookie cutters and colored sugars to create a variety of designs."

This recipe is from My Great Recipes, and they are a great holiday sugar cookie that don't need rolling out. When I made these, I was too lazy to sprinkle with sugar and top with pecans or raisins. I just threw the pecans in at the end of mixing the dough. These are soft and delicious!

A recipe my mom uses to make cut out cookies for holidays besides Christmas (she has a sour cream cut out recipe for then). I like the almond extract in these. My mom says she prefers to use margarine in her cookies but you can use butter if you like. I think it makes about 2 dozen but I'm not sure.

Holidays are undoubtedly the most unhealthy times of the year. So why not make them a bit better? Not only do these cookies taste good, they look good, smell good, and most importantly ARE good... for you. Enjoy this yearly classic... just lighter. These are soft, sweet, and delicious. Whats also great about these is the dough doesn't have to be refrigerated! Icing based from AllRecipes.com.

Posted to the Cafe Cookie Book by scribbulus_ink. "These aren't very sweet; they're more like shortbread" (but of a cookie texture).

This recipe came from the newspaper in the small Arizona town where I grew up. We use it almost every year to make Christmas cookies. They're not too dry and are good even without any icing or candy decorations.

This recipe is great for cut-out cookies for Christmas

This is an old photocopied recipe that looks like it originated in Hamilton, Indiana. The recipe is attributed to Letha Teegarden. It is my favorite cookie and the one I make most often. *Sour Milk substitution= sweet milk + 2 Tbsp vinegar to make 1 cup. I always use the substitution. For the flavoring I add a Tbsp of vanilla. I'm too impatient to wait for the dough to chill, so I make them into drop cookies... I put the dough in the freezer in between batches to make it easier to work with. I have successfully substituted half the flour with white whole wheat flour and no one could tell the difference.

I got this from a co-worker back when I worked before we had kids. We just love the tender sweet cookie that is easy to make. The kids like helping with dipping the glass in the sugar to flatten the cookie. We use colored sugar at Christmas time.
