Here's a way to make the cornstarch paste called for in some of my recipes.

    Recipe #40297

This came from a "light" cook book and makes a great sustitute for heavy cream in dessert recipes. Do not overmix, it will cause it to become too liquidy. Cooking time reflects set time.

I don't always have cake flour on hand, and I'm betting many others don't either. I have discovered that this substitute works very, very well. Easy too, and it uses pantry staples!

    Recipe #87689

Being a diabetic is hard. It's difficult to find everyday ingredients. However, if you use some of the "in-a-pinch" recipes and make your own, you can substitute the sugar for Splenda and **HOPE** it turns out right. This did and it's really opened doors for me as a dessert maker.

A good recipe to have for when you can't get to the store.

    Recipe #129137

I always seem to not have buttermilk on hand when I need it. I've used the powdered milk and vinegar version of this which works well, but today I didn't have any powdered milk! This substitution that I found on the internet works just as well.

    Recipe #124413

Can be used in place of rose water called for in middle eastern recipes. Yield is an approximation. Recipe from baking911.

Posted by request. Times are estimates.

    Recipe #74080

I use this in place of Sweetened Condensed Milk in my recipes. Less expensive than those little cans.Prep time icludes standing time. Makes one can.

    Recipe #66910

This is great if you need brown sugar but don't have any. Easy to make and very inexpensive.

    Recipe #65271

I saw this today on Paula Deen's show and HAD to try it since I had almost a quart of yogurt. It works. And I liked it better than using just yogurt. Cooking time is refrigeration time, preparation is time for butter to cool.
