South Beach Favorites
I love the South Beach way of eating. This is a collection of recipes that work well with the program, either as they are, or some require simple modifications. No drastic make-overs are needed in this collection of recipes, though. Depending on the recipe, butter can be eliminated entirely, or replaced by olive oil, canola oil, or a trans-fat free spread. Breads, flour, pasta, rice, potatoes, etc. can be eliminated or substituted with whole grain, brown rice, sweet potato, etc. Sugar can be replaced with Splenda or eliminated. High fat cheese/dairy products can be substituted with low fat cheese/dairy. The right cut of meat should be used, too. For example, ground turkey should be ground turkey breast, or pork chops should be lean pork loin cut into "chops". Once you are familiar with how it works, it's easy to adapt recipes and enjoy great meals.
