A crock pot can be a great time saver for busy moms or people who work. I like using mine because I can make a meal and still take a nap or rest while it cooks. I don't have the extra energy always to stand and cook for hours. This recipe is full of my favorite foods. Serve this with crusty bread to sop up the extra liquid.
Everyone knows by now how much I hate Edith Gump but love her cooking. I only pretend to like her and take her phone calls so she will share her delicious recipes. This onion soup is ambrosia in a bowl.
Had lunch at the Blue Mesa Grill in Addison, TX...some of the best Southwestern food I have eaten. This soup is really light...not creamy like other tortilla soups I have had. It calls for a whole chicken, but I will probably use chicken breasts to omit the bones and fat from getting in the soup. Their recipes are posted at bluemesagrill.com...all times are estimated.
Two soups in a bowl, make sure the soups are of a similar consistency so that they don't run together when ladled in the bowl. Had lunch at the Blue Mesa Grill in Addison, TX...some of the best Southwestern food I have eaten...I didn't get to try this, but it sounds delicious. This seems like it will take a long to time to get both soups done, so please let me know of any shortcuts you may come up with. This is the only chili recipe I've used for the last 8 years or so. I think its pretty outstanding. I vary the hot ingredients depending on who will be eating it and the mood I'm in. I've also used ground venison and it was just as good.
This recipe was printed in the "Arizona Republic" newspaper when Chasen's closed its doors. Chasens was a Hollywood hangout. Elizabeth Taylor liked this chili so much that when she was on a movie set out of the country, she would have them ship it to her on location.
This is my favorite recipe for potato soup. It's a copycat of the one they use to serve at the St. Louis Bread Company (Panera). The recipe originally called for shredding your potatoes, but I never could get them to cook that way. I know they should cook faster, but I never could get it to work.
My husband recently discovered this flavor rich, thick, beef stew recipe, and was amazed at how easy it was for him to make. We decided it was definitely a repeat recipe, and wanted to post it here for future reference.
This is one of my favorite soup recipes, especially in the fall when it's just getting crisp and cool outside. However, it's also great in the summer when my basil is going nuts (like it is right now!)
This recipe comes from Jean, a friend of mine at work. This is the absolute best brunswick stew I have ever had, she had a hard time convincing me this was made from all canned ingredients. This is a must try recipe!!!
One of St. Louis's favorite soup recipes was recently printed in the Post-Dispatch. I remember going to St. Louis when I was young and my family going into the department store's restaurant for this famous soup. Enjoy! Famous-Barr's French Onion Soup
My Granny sure was a "Good Cooker"! We all loved her food especially certain things like her soup. We all try to make ours taste "just like Grannys". When we make it we are sure to call everyone and brag. I normally boil a whole chicken and use most of it for the soup and a little for something else. Granny never drained the cans of veggies, but I never lose as much water as she did, maybe because I put a cover on the boiling chicken.
