This is a recipe my sister gave me to help build up my DD's immunity, and not get sick so often. Here's what she said about the ingredients: "Basically the miso, the seaweed and the shitakes are DEEP immune builders, the ginger, the cayenne, the scallions help remove excess heat from the body and get circulation going." The ingredients can be increased or decreased to your preference. This is just what I did.
Wow this is good! Tastes just like buffalo chicken/hot wings in a creamy and filling soup! Fast and simple too! I am not usually a fan of anything with canned cream soups but when I tried this I just had to have the recipe. There are lots of recipes here on Zaar for substitutes for canned cream soup that could be used with great results. I have listed that this makes a gallon, actually it makes just shy of a gallon of soup. From TOH with tweaks from Mama.
One of the trendiest soups over here in the UK at the moment is carrot and coriander soup. Coriander is the same thing as cilantro only by a different name. I have enjoyed this soup but because of my dietary requirements have avoided it because creamy soups like this so often use a lot of cream. So, I was happy to find this version of the soup in the August 2008 copy of BBC Good Magazine because it doesn't use any dairy at all. I have now tried the recipe and think it is fantastic. It is very rich and creamy tasting without any at all.
Easy, filling, low fat and low calorie! What more could you ask of a recipe? Adjust the spice factor according to your family's likes by omitting the chiles (in tomato mixture) or adding some chopped jalapenos.
This is a modified recipe, originally called Farmhouse Cheddar Soup, which I clipped out years ago. I make it often and freeze in individual servings to reheat. You can reserve 1 1/2 c of the cauliflowerets to saute in some butter and add after the soup has been pureed. I usually just puree it all in the soup pot with a hand blender.
My mother gave me this recipe. She found it while clipping coupons. It is from S&W. This is the best stew I have ever eaten and my family requests me to make it quite frequently. It has become a "comfort food" for us. Perfect to make if you have leftovers after baking a large turkey or chicken. Can be made vegetarian or vegan if desired.
The Stuff that dreams are made of...Don't let the DP turn you off, this soup is ADDICTING. Plus there's something about telling little kids it contains Dr.Pepper that makes them eat their dinner! Plus it's so easy!
This is one of my favorite soup recipes, especially in the fall when it's just getting crisp and cool outside. However, it's also great in the summer when my basil is going nuts (like it is right now!)
This recipe helped me with my diet and also helped me to stretch my dollar through the lean college years. It's an adaptation from another recipe for vegetarians and those pursuing a healthier lifestyle.
When your low on points for the week or if you want something that will fill you up that won't count against your points, indulge yourself in this YUMMY soup..
BTW- my 3. 5, and 7 year old LOVED this soup with some oyster crackers.. Family Pleaser!
