From "Slow Cooker Favorites", this recipe calls for stew beef but I made it using short ribs with good results. It reheats well and tastes better the next day!

    Recipe #443948

My family loves this hearty soup. The taste is similar to an onion soup but MUCH better. The best part of it is that its vegan ( if you leave off the parmesan cheese and make sure you are using a vegan vegetable stock) which is great for my teen daughter. Enjoy!

    Recipe #162373

This is very easy to prepare and makes a great dish for lunch or a light dinner served with fresh bread.

    Recipe #421536

This delicious recipe from Canadian Living has flavours that remind me of my mom's homemade soups. My husband liked it so much that he had a second bowl and he rarely eats seconds!

    Recipe #415507

I got this from the February 2005 issue of BBC Good Food and adjusted slightly for our tastes. I'm not sure how authentically Moroccan it is (when we were there we didn't come across any soups like this) but it definitely has those north-African flavours and best of all it is super healthy for you. If you don't have harissa you can use your favourite hot sauce or chili pepper.

I am posting this recipe on request of another member. I have never made it myself but she said it is very good so I will have to try now.

Another wonderful recipe from Canadian Living. This reheats really well and tastes even better the next day.

    Recipe #354510

A basic, homey, simple soup. According to food historians, fassolatha (pronounced fah-so-LAH-thah) has been around since ancient Greek times. It is the national dish of Greece, representing the best of the Greek way of cooking: legumes, vegetables, herbs, and olive oil. Serving suggestions: Serve Fassolatha with a side of feta cheese sprinkled with pepper and oregano and doused in olive oil, crusty bread, black olives, and salty dishes like anchovies, smoked herring, or others of your choice.

    Recipe #170923

This is a super easy version of the popular Italian soup, made with ingredients found in most fridges and pantries. I am lucky in that I am able to buy loose Italian sausage meat in 1 lb. packages at my grocer. If you can't get loose sausage meat, just get 1 lb. of sausage and remove the meat from the casings.

A recipe by - Michael Chiarello & Food network.

    Recipe #270243

This recipe looks really good. It is from Dave Lieberman (Food Network). I recently took a cooking class from him and it was great. So I am trusting that this will be great too!

    Recipe #170114

adopted 9/15 by me. This recipe is from Gourmet issue December 1997. I finally traced it down.

    Recipe #50367

A very easy to prepare recipe that is great for lunch with some good bread and cheese. From BBC Good Food Magazine.

    Recipe #320233

I found this super easy version in a back issue of Canadian Living. Great served for a simple weekend supper with a toasted western sandwich on the side.

I don't know how this turkey and corn chowder got the name of Beggar's Chowder. Probably because it is so delicious, you will beg for a second bowl! From "Slow Cooker Favorites".

    Recipe #299738

From FoodTV.ca, this is almost a thick vegetable soup. I served this topped with sour cream and shredded Tex Mex blend cheese and it was a big hit with my husband, who hates vegetables. This can also be made in the crock pot by cooking on high for 3 to 4 hours. Just make sure you saute the vegetables first as this will affect the flavour of the final product.

Thick, hearty, and delicious - perfect for a cold winter day! From "Food Network Kitchens: Making It Easy".

    Recipe #285625

Excellent pantry scraper recipe. Makes a very hearty bowl of soup with the unexpected addition of barley.

An easy, hearty soup made from items found in the pantry. It can be made in the crock pot also by combining all of the ingredients, except for the oil, and cooking on low for 8 hours but I like it better made on top of the stove. Sauteing the onions and garlic gives the soup a whole different flavour which doesn't come across in the crock pot version.
