    Soups

Zuppa Di Pesce, Cioppino, or Fish Stew. Cioppino means "fish stew" in Genoese dialect. As with most fishermen stews, the ingredients aren't cast in stone.

This recipe comes out of the Sopranos Family Cookbook. I love this soup so I am adding it to my Sopranos cookbook. You pronounce this dish like Pasta Fazool.

    Recipe #240722

This is a yummy Lentil Stew made with mostly what is in your pantry. It is only four servings so you won't have tons left over. Simple but delicious!

    Recipe #191459

This is a hearty soup that tastes wonderful! A friend of mine gave this recipe to me from a "soup bar" we had a church. Thank you Betty! Not low fat - just loaded with flavor! Serving size unknown. You can double this recipe and freeze some for later. OAMC

With Cookgirl's "Lemony Lentils" (#163135) as inspiration, I put together this yummy soup with the leftovers. DH loves this soup!

    Recipe #186669

My family loves this hearty clam chowder I adapted from various other recipes. This makes one very large pot of clam chowder and will feed a nice gathering of family and friends. Great meal for the family on a cold Saturday night after shoveling snow. Hope you enjoy it.

    Recipe #278746

This is an exquisite soup. You won't believe the depth and complexity of the broth (especially w/o the use of alcohol or sour cream). The original recipe calls for 9 cups of chicken broth. My two containers only had 8, so that's all I used. It turned out so well, that's what is listed below. You can also substitute regular white mushrooms for the portobellos.

A very good broccoli cheese soup. Served with crusty bread.

This is a surprisingly filling, vegetarian, crock pot soup. It is very good, and easy to prepare the night before, or chop the veggies in advance and turn it on before you leave for work in the morning. Goes great with a crusty bread.

    Recipe #81047

This is an authentic Portuguese Kale soup. I don't use the dried bans, I use canned canneloni instead. It saves time and I like them better than the red variety. The number of servings is a guess as the size of your bowl and appetite varies. Also whether you use this as a main dish or soup course.

This is a very flavorful soup that is a comfort food for my family. The recipe was given to me by my Portuguese mil over 30 yrs ago. Her mother had passed it on to her. This soup is easily stretched to make more servings. The Chorizo gives the broth a good base for adding another can of beans or more pasta or a little water. Soul warming for a cold night, serve with a warm crusty bread. A great next day soup. Freezes well.

    Recipe #82886

This is a family tradition when the zucchinis are ready. This soup has won first prize in our local county fair. It's not to strongly zucchini flavored, and has a fabulous italian flavor. I have NEVER found anyone who dislikes this soup, try it you'll see!!

This is a children's favourite in France and has quickly become my children's favourite, here in Canada. I saw Laura Calder's "French Food at Home" show on Food Network Canada (foodtv.ca) where she prepared this quick and delicious recipe. You can substitute or add any vegetable you wish. I have found it is great made with broccoli or cauliflower and I sometimes add a couple of julienned carrots just to switch it up a bit. A fairly healthy soup because it is not loaded with cream, flour, butter or highly processed cheeses.

    Recipe #246497

You can eat as much of this 0-point Weight Watchers cabbage soup as you like. It's so good for you.

    Recipe #128956

I found this simple and delicious recipe on an online video site. If you wish, you may cook some wagon wheel pasta separately and add it to the finished soup.

    Recipe #430681

The best recipes are always the simplest and this is my favorite for chowder. It features classic easy-to find ingredients: It''s a cinch to make, and best of all --it tastes great!

This is amazing, if I do say so myself. I concocted this yummy recipe for a friend who really savors food. He was floored.

This quick and easy recipe is so much better than the canned stuff. Great as a first course, or with salad or sandwiches. Of course, you can use it in your favorite recipes, too. To make it thicker, use less stock and/or use heavy cream instead of the half-and-half cream or milk.

    Recipe #39369

As the weather turns chilly, my tastes immediately turn to comforting stews and thick soups. Though I am not a vegetarian, I enjoy having meatless meals a couple of times a week. Saw this one on cooking Light and wanted to post it for future reference. For those on the WW Core program, the stew is Core plus points for the feta garnish.

Soups are my very favorite thing to cook! Many great soup recipes have been collected over the 57 years I've been cooking.....and this is one of the best. It is easy and the catsup gives it a unique taste that everyone, kids especially, seem to really like. The recipe came from a daughter, who is a great cook.....Sarahloves2cook.
