I've never been to Panera Bread, so I couldn't tell you if this is similar. I can tell you it's delicious and simple to make. I didn't have bacon, but it's still delicious even without. I topped mine with cheese and left the skin on my potatoes. Recipe courtesy of Lynn's Kitchen Adventures (she found a copy cat version of the recipe and tweaked it to her liking). YUMMY! Serving size is estimated.

    Recipe #445219

I literally CRAVE this amazing, hearty soup from Panera when the weather begins to chill.... this is the closest recipe I have found to theirs. The best part is, it's ready in less than an hour!! I've found that the reviews are right and have lessened the amount of flour; originally 1 cup; just use 1/2 or a bit more depending on how thick you like your soup (Panera's is VERY thick).

This is the ultimate comfort soup. I've had this recipe for 6 years (I got it from a magazine) and I love it. If you want to use real pumpkin instead of canned, here's the conversion: 1-3/4 cups of puree -- equal to 1 (15-oz.) can pumpkin

This is a light refreshing beginning to any meal.

    Recipe #55353

Recipe adapted from Canal House Cooking, Volume No. 4 by Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton. This refreshing chilled soup (from their latest edition) combines rich avocados with crisp cucumbers. It's an ideal dinner for a hot summer night, as it requires no cooking and can be prepped in just a few minutes. Cooking time is chilling time.

If you've ever eaten Vietnamese food and not had this, you have been missing out. Very good and pretty healthy. I'm sure someone from Vietnam could critique this to death. I've had lots of Vietnamese food and this tastes pretty authentic.

I love beer cheese soup, and this is one of my fave's. Great in a bread bowl or with fresh baked beer cheese muffins. Perfect for cold & snowy days.

The Washington Post, October 26, 2011 The soup recipe is from Smoke Signals columnist Jim Shahin; the rum cream recipe is adapted from "The Inn at Little Washington: A Consuming Passion," by Patrick O'Connell and Tim Turner (Random House, 1996). MAKE AHEAD: The pumpkin can be smoked up to 2 days in advance. Scoop out the pulp, put into a sealed container and refrigerate.

We hosted a charity dinner at our Colorado house two summers ago. The chef who did the dinner came from Kansas City, where he has a catering company. This fabulous soup was the first course of a wonderful dinner!

A friend made this recently and just went on and on about how good it was. I have no measurements so you will get to "wing it."
