    Souper-Dooper Soups from the Forums

There are over 15,000 fabulous soups in Zaar! Every so often a Zaarite puts a request in the forums for others' favorite recipes among them. These are from five soup threads in the Community Cafe and Q&A forums. I know that there are lots of other great Zaar soups, but the ones that were recommended in the 5 threads are the ones listed. If you're a soupaholic like me, you'll have fun choosing these recipes, from simple comfort soups to exotic recipes. Even though recipes may be named the same, all are different and were posted by a forum member as their favorite.I've tried to group recipes together by main ingredient, so if you have some beef, chicken, sausage, seafood, veggies or whatever laying around you could find a recipe faster. I've also tried to keep main ingredient and/or categories alphabetical for easy use. Have I mentioned that I LOVE soup? (Cover Photo by Aaliyah&Aaron's mum)

This albondigas soup recipe was given to me from my mother-in-law. It's definitely one my favorite soups. Honestly, it's better than most restaurants that I've tried.

If you love beans, you will LOVE this recipe. I also used a can of great northern beans and omitted the croutons to lower the calories. [Adapted from the Culinary Institute of America].

A satisfying soup. Reheats well, too.

    Recipe #44135

This is an old recipe given to me by my mother. I have tasted different versions but this one is my family's favorite.

    Recipe #26040

This recipe uses canned black beans which cooks much faster than the dried variety, however, I still cook them for quite a while to achieve the desired "creaminess". If pickled pork is not available in your area you may substitute cubed smoked ham. This is great on a cold winter day served with hot cornbread.

for being so easy, this soup will knock your socks off! totally vegetarian and is really great with some crusty bread or some finely shredded cheddar cheese and/or sour cream on top!

The best thing about this soup, apart from the delicious taste, is that it's so easy and quick to make. Please serve it with the Cilantro Cream - it's like the icing on the cake! You can make this soup for a vegetarian, just leave out the bacon and use vegetable stock - this is how I make it for my husband and it's still delicious. This recipe has been adapted from a leaflet I found in a supermarket, promoting Sonoma dried tomato halves.

I like to serve this hearty soup in October and November, perfect for a fall meal. This recipe came from Gourmet magazine and makes a meaty, spicy and smoky soup, thickened by pureed black beans. Enjoy!

I love black beans and sweet potatoes... this is a wonderful blend of flavors. I like to cook this in the crockpot but it can also easily be done on the stovetop.

this recipe is from rick bayless mexican kitchen cookbook. it's a bit different as it uses no additional spices and contains shrimp. it tastes even better the second day.

    Recipe #111202

This is so good! It's nice and cheesy and oh so easy to put together. Really good with slices of hot cornbread. I got this recipe from my Mother who is a wonderful cook. Cook time is time it takes to melt the cheese in the soup mixture.

This is a recipe I've been searching for for a long time. On my trips to Southern California, I would always stop in a restaurant named Keefer's Inn in King City, California. Unfortunately, the restaurant changed hands and this soup served there wasn't the same.In the old restaurant, in their gift shop, burlap bags of pink beans were sold along with a recipe card for this soup. I never bought one because I thought the restaurant would be there forever! I wrote in to a local newspaper food column asking if anyone still had the recipe and lucked out! Pink beans are smallish, sweet, meaty beans sometimes are known as chili beans; however, any pea or bean will work. I just love the pink beans for this savory soup. * cooking time does not include overnight soaking ** a ham bone can certainly be used instead of a ham hock

This soup is an all time family favorite-light, fresh tasting yet filling. Since I'm a garlic freak I like to serve this with a Caesar Salad and hot rolls.

    Recipe #25288

This is a staple in our house. Serve it with tortillas, quesadillas, or tortilla chips and it's dinner! I usually assemble it the night before, stash it in the fridge and plug it in before I leave for work. My husband spices it up with hot sauce, but for my daughter and I, it's good as is. It's another recipe someone shared at a school potluck lunch :) Oh, and I'm totally guessing on the servings...

Nice when the weather is cool and crisp. I serve with toasted bruschetta.
