Ready, Set, Cook! Hidden Valley Contest Entry. This is a delicious and satisfying soup that is a snap to put together even on the busiest weekdays. The Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Mix easily adds another layer of flavor to the soup.
This recipe also comes from Family Circle's Fast Vegetarian Cookbook and is the perfect stew/soup for a cold night.
It is filling, easy to make, tastes super yummy and is healthy, too. What more can you ask for? :)
I modified it a little to have it produce a smaller quantity and suite my taste even more.
I hope you enjoy.
Per Vegetarian Times, "This brothy soup provides heart healthful nutrition on many levels: kale and garlic are good for the cardiovascular system; wheat berries are high in fiber; and shiitake mushroom contain an amino acid that speeds up processing of cholesterol in the liver." You need to plan ahead to make this, as the wheat berries require an overnight soak. WOW was this a yummy and simple soup. . .made with fresh ingredients. Love it!!! Even my meat eating neighbor ate it up. The kale gives it a little of a tangy flavor.
One of Johnny's first creations, this is a great, easy, and budget friendly comfort food that can be made up in no time flat! Be sure and look for more wonderful JJ recipes from us. If it's got jalapenos, it's Johnny Jalapeno!
This recipe is from The Garlic Lovers' Cookbook. A lady named Jo Stallard won first place at the Gilroy Garlic Festival back in 1980 with this recipe. I am listing the recipe as it appears in the cookbook. I have seen this recipe around the 'net, however, one key ingredient is being left out: Paprika. I think it makes a big difference in the flavor. I make it exactly as written, with the following substitutions: I use a can of Northern beans instead of garbanzo, I use red bell pepper instead of green, and I use fat free half and half instead of whipping cream. It is the most delicious soup I have ever tasted! I make it at least once a week. Great way to get your family to eat their veggies!
A rich creamy tomato soup with some tortellini to fill your tummy. Serve with some hot garlic bread! I just combined a few of my favorites from other recipes and added some parmesan it was a hit. Hope you enjoy it too!
This is a heavenly, quick, delicious soup! I got this from a church dinner we had. The Pastor's wife hates to cook, and this is her favorite quick take...one taste and it is mine now too! Great for socials.
Now that the colder weather is here, it's a perfect time for a hearty, stick-to-your-ribs, one pot meal like this delicious stew. Sometimes I have used lean ground beef in place of the stew meat in a pinch. Serve with a crusty bread or warm rolls for a complete dinner.
This is wonderful on a cold day --- I use my recipe #118258 for this that I keep in the freezer, canned low-sodium will do just fine but homemade broth is always the best and do not add any extra salt to the broth as the matzo balls already have plenty of salt in them already you may always add in some salt if needed at the end of cooking --- these matzo balls will almost double in size when simmering in the broth so do not reduce the amount of broth you may however increase if desired --- matzo meal may be found in the Jewish section of any major supermarket or sold in Jewish food stores.
