This recipe requires no cooking. If you prefer a nuttier flavor, you could first toast the puffed rice over medium heat.
I can't for the life of me remember where this recipe came from but I have been making these for about 30 years now. Everyone absolutely loves them. I nearly always double or triple the recipe because we love them as snacks or in our lunch the next day. Go by the recipe and don't add any extra salt as there is enough in the cheese and crackers. Enjoy!
P.S. 8-7-09 I have been making this for over 30 yrs. and have never had a problem with watery zucchini. Might just be a climate issue.
Thick, creamy, the consistency of soft cream cheese. This works with low fat yogurts too! The ingredients look funny because it wouldn't accept only one ingredient but it would accept a coffee filter as an ingredient, lol.
A traditional Oaxacan bar snack, these lime- and chile-flavored peanuts are typically deep-fried in pork fat. The folks at Chow lightened them up by roasting them in the oven for a quick and easy snack without sacrificing any flavor. Try them out at your next cocktail party, and don’t be put off by the amount of garlic—roasting sweetens and mellows it.
These crispy, spicy fritters are eaten as a snack in south India rather than as an appetizer. It is served with coffee or tea. These are generally made as small pieces and fried so that the fried surface area is more. They taste best when made with onions that have a lower water content such as red onion.
This is very simple, so simple I probably shouldn't add it but darn I so love it! I had been eating Salmon on my bagels and it just didn't sit quite right on my tummy so I thought this up. It is slightly salty but still quite good.
This is a low fat version that I have been experimenting with the last few months. It is quite d'lish and we prefer it above the full fat versions. I like to serve it in smaller portion control bowls and give each person their own; that has been a real hit! People really seem to love the fact they have their own little dip for double dipping!
A great snack for when you want something salty and delicious but don't want the load of calories that normally comes with crispy snacks. Even those not watching thier caloric intake will love these so make a big batch. feel free to experiment with different seasonings. Garlic, cayenne, Italian blends and lemon pepper are some suggestions. ***note*** If you want larger chips use a japanese daikon radish. The taste and texture will be the same.
Soft, street-vendor type pretzels.
I'de been experimenting with various recipes for pretzels, and finally created this one which everyone agrees is perfect, especially when accompanied with our simple and easy to make Recipe #280453 :)
You can also make pretzel rolls which are wonderful for burgers.
My spousal unit and I are garlic freaks and also love the garlic butter served with seafood. Since we do not eat lobster or shrimp, we wanted something with that garlic butter taste and decided to "kick it up a notch" with Emeril's Essence.
