I used to eat this all the time as a kid and just ran across the recipe again in a church recipe collection cookbook. I'm not a huge fan of gelatin salads,(they always sound kinda funky) but this one, I like. A little tart, a little sweet.
Quahogs are another name for hard-shell clams, and I know that at least in our region here in Maine, it refers to larger clams (as opposed to cherrystones). These are fairly easy to make, the worst part is the shucking, but I usually pass that job over to someone else. I eat these anytime I can get them. Update 10/16/2006. I've adjusted the cook times. We like them much better when they were cooked longer.
Another wings recipe, the five-spice powder adds a nice tang, but be careful when using it, it can be overpowering. If you prefer you can grill or barbecue them but be careful they don't burn. Marinating time not included.
I thought that making soft pretzels was beyond my culinary ability for the longest time. After searching for a recipe that was dorm-friendly, we (the gurlz and I) found this on the Pillsbury website. SO easy, SO fast, and SOOOOOO good!. Make these with your kids and let them shape them into cool things.
Whenever I make this for friends I usually triple the recipe, everyone fights over the last shrimp lol! Serve this with a long crusty baguette and lemon wedges. Plan ahead the shrimp needs to marinate for 1 hour. recipe#186029 works great for this!
