So simple, so tasty, so soothing!!! A classic chicken noodle recipe. All it takes is some chicken broth or chicken soup base, chicken and some veggies. A bay leaf gives it the extra yummy factor. Why would you ever buy canned soup with such an easy tasty recipe like this! I read this recipe in a chicken cook book but changed a few things to suit my prefrences.

    Recipe #85648

This chicken noodle soup is great on a cool day.

    Recipe #20755

I first learned to like this soup at a Chinese restaurant called Nong Chin's in Marion Illinois. I had to try my hand at copying it, as I love it--this is the result. AND these people DO NOT give out their recipes.

The ONLY recipe my father ever had. NOTE: I didn't say HE ever MADE it; that was my mother's job! A pure potato soup, no cheese, bacon, dill or other exotic ingredients. A true peasant recipe.

    Recipe #360460

This is my favorite recipe for potato soup. It's a copycat of the one they use to serve at the St. Louis Bread Company (Panera). The recipe originally called for shredding your potatoes, but I never could get them to cook that way. I know they should cook faster, but I never could get it to work.

Good for the cold winter days. Soak the lentils to speed up boiling.

    Recipe #394493

    From my Romanian Collection.

When I was younger I lived in Hungary for a couple of years. And I had a boyfriend, who taught I'll better move in with him when I had give back my apartment. Well, what you don't know is that he was still living with his parents. If you thought it was scary, think of the the poor people, his parents, who had no idea of his plans. We moved my stuff late at night and they woke up to a lovely surprise:ME! The first couple of weeks were kind of weird, but once they got to know my lovely character and even my greater modesty we got along just fine. His mom was the best,we keep in touch even now,and she taught me how to cook. She used to be a chef in a hotel, so I had a lot to learn from her. Even though she used to be a chef, I was the one who taught her how to turn the crepes! I think we became friends in the kitchen. Of course, in the beginning she was watching me so suspicious but when we parted she told me if I was to marry her son (didn't happen) she would always be on my side in a quarrel. This is her soup and even though I don't know the quantities I'll try to reproduce it. She was using organic chickens or hens and her soup had a beautiful yellow color. What's different about it ,it's not the soup but mostly the way it's served.Times and serving are approximate. It takes longer to boil a hen. It's mostly a Sunday or holiday soup, when the family gets together. Finally, I got my first recipe with a story behind. More to come, stay tuned!

Enjoy this big, "belly warming" bowl of chicken noodle soup! Generous portions, perfect with crackers and a grilled sandwich. I use my Recipe #264657 for the seasoning.

    Recipe #395743

From TOH Healthy Cooking Oct/Nov 2008.

    Recipe #357417

This is a quick meal my mom used to serve when I was a kid.

    Recipe #199746

I love french onion soup, but I don't love all the calories... This is low and calories & tastes great!

    Recipe #217859

A quick and satisfying recipe, best served when one needs to recover from a late night! Recipe from the book WHAT TO COOK When You Think There's Nothing in the House to Eat. By Arthur Schwartz. Menudo is a legendary tripe soup/stew of Mexico and the Southwest United States, where the joints that serve it often don't open until midnight. Menudo can, its devotees say prevent a hangover. Tripe soup eaters all over the world claim this, so it must work. Experts on such nutritional/medical matters explain that its the protein from the tripe and the liquid of the soup medium that stave off the side effects of overindulgence. Theoretically, high-protein chick-peas in soup should have a similar effect.

AWHILE BACK I WAS BROWSING IN THE CAMPBELL SOUP AISLE WHEN A CAN OF FRENCH ONION SOUP CAUGHT MY EYE. BEING A FRENCH ONION FAN FROM W..A..Y BACK, I BOUGHT A COUPLE CANS. I WASN'T EXPECTING MUCH FROM THE PRODUCT. THERE WAS NO WAY IT COULD POSSIBLY COMPARE TO FRENCH ONION SOUP PREPARED FROM SCRATCH BY A PROFESSIONAL CHEF. WHEN I GOT HOME I THREW TOGETHER THIS RECIPE AND LET ME TELL YOU...I WAS IN FOR A TASTE EXPERIENCE STRAIGHT FROM HEAVEN! LEAVE OFF PEELING AND SLICING THOSE ONIONS, LADIES. TRY THIS AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

    Recipe #51429

Steak and Shake was a franchise started in the Midwest. My father would take me there on special occasions. I loved their chili! This is a chili which would be ideal for children. It is very mild with a slight sweetness. I found this recipe on the internet @ I dunno4recipes. The recipe origionally called for 2 (15 ounce) cans of kidney beans drained, but I prefer the taste of chili beans better

    Recipe #27171

This comes from my Great Grandmother. The food Ingredients come from the days of rationing during WW1. And all the ingredients are already in most pantries. It's very simple so She would make this for us every time we visited her. It was my favorite thing to eat when I was a kid. It's very rich so a little goes a long way. I still make this just for my birthday.

Go to Wal-Mart (or your local grocery store) and buy one of those cheap oven roasted chickens (any flavor will work, but lemon-pepper is the best in my book...) Enjoy a meal with the chicken, then toss it in the fridge. The next day, you have the perfect chicken soup chicken in the fridge! I like it because it is dirt cheap and provides me 2 meals. Plus the soup is better than anything in a can!

    Recipe #190885

Perfect on a COLD winter's day. Soup doesn't have to take all day to taste great. This is easy enough to prepare after working all day and still tastes homemade.
