Pan Haggerty is a traditional home cooking British dish. It is one of those recipes where everybody's mother had a different version they make but the concept is the same. Which is making a little bit of meat go a long way by padding it out with cheaper root vegetables. I am trying to eat less meat so came up with this vegetarian version for the vegetarian food blog I run at weekendcarnivore.com . Serve with some good bread and this is a one pot meal.

    Recipe #423352

I am a hummus fiend and I like coming up for new versions. I had a jar of preserved lemons in my fridge and decided to give my latest hummus recipe an extra Middle Eastern feel. I originally made this recipe for my vegetarian food blog at weekendcarnivore.com .

    Recipe #423632

Jaffa cakes are a wonderful cakey sort of cookie (it is often debated if it is a cake or a cookie) that is very popular in the UK. They are made up of an orange cake base and a chocolate top. I saw this recipe in a UK cooking magazine for a giant jaffa cake drizzle loaf and knew I had to make it. I am so glad I did because this is a wonderful cake that I now get asked to make frequently.

    Recipe #423633

This is my favourite hummus recipe that I have developed as of late. The green olives work well to add a slightly salty note to the hummus. The way I make hummus uses less oil so I can feel less guilty about enjoying my favourite dish. Coriander is known in the States as cilantro. I came up with this recipe for my vegetarian food blog at wwww.weekendcarnivore.com .

    Recipe #423641

If there are two recipes that should be included in any list of home cooking comfort foods it would oatmeal cookies and banana bread. So, why not combine the two? This is also a good way to take those slightly overripe bananas and turn them from trash to treasure.

    Recipe #413631

These little guys are great to add to appetizer platters for parties and would also be great to pack in a picnic basket. The sticky sweetness of the balsamic onions works well with earthiness of the mushrooms and blue cheese. They are good cold. So, you don't have to worry about cooking them and keeping them warm during your event.

    Recipe #403198

I came up with this recipe when I was asked to review a brand of Greek yogurt for my Weekend Carnivore (http://weekendcarnivore.com) cooking blog. I figured that I enjoy both spinach dip and potato salad. So, why not combine the two? Cooking time doesn't include the chilling time since it is up to you how long you chill it.

    Recipe #402877

I saw this recipe in Marks and Spencer's 2009 Christmas leaflet. It looked really interesting and I wanted to put it somewhere for future use. Stilton is a strong cheese like a blue cheese. So, if you can't find Stilton you can probably use blue cheese. She says that it could be either a side dish or a main vegetarian dish over brown rice.

    Recipe #401646

Sometimes simple and fresh is best! That is for sure the face with this recipe that I put together while creating recipes for my vegetarian food blog - http://weekendcarnivore.com . For the pesto, I used Kittencal's recipe #144195 which really is great stuff! This is enough for one but can be very easily multiplied.

    Recipe #391087

I have enjoyed Australian damper bread in the past because it is tasty and easy enough to make up for my lack of baking skills. This morning I fancied bread and I also had a zucchini that needed using up. So, I tried this mixture out and it turned out pretty good. The cooking time includes the dough resting time.

    Recipe #388685

I was making up a box of sugar free pudding and spotted the bottle of creme de menthe on the shelf. It wouldn't let me ignore it and I thought 'hmm, I wonder' and added a bit into the mix. It worked and turned normal chocolate pudding into something lush tasting. I could see it being the base of easy 'grown up' parfaits and that sort of thing too.

    Recipe #388604

I came up with this today when trying to figure out something to do with a few veggies and a bag of cooked rice noodles that had made it to the end of the food shopping week. We really enjoyed it and it is also pretty healthy too.

    Recipe #388225

I am really trying to eat less meat these days. I was looking for something quick to make but without bouncing back to cooking meat. I looked around at what I had in my cupboards and fridge and came up with these. We enjoyed the way they turned out and will for sure have them again. I suspect this would make a nice tortilla filling too.

    Recipe #387891

I saw this in the magazine from Morrison's supermarket. It sounded good so I have added it here for safe keeping. Cooking time includes fridge chilling time.

    Recipe #386008

Broa is a yeasted cornbread eaten in Portugal. I found this recipe at the excellent 'Lip Smacking Goodness' blog.

    Recipe #371069

I found this recipe when preparing for ZWT 5. I am not sure if the asorbic acid is a must but the recipe does sound tasty and easy.

    Recipe #371065

An adult sorbet with a Scandinavian twist.

    Recipe #371028

A simple but lovely way of serving tomatoes. This would go nicely with a Spanish tortilla and even as part of a tapas meal. I found the recipe on the Orce Serrano Hams website. Caster sugar is simply superfine sugar.

    Recipe #371001

A version of the traditional Spanish dish for those that can't or don't want to eat the meat and fish that is usually on the ingredients list.

    Recipe #370856

This looks like fun way to serve gazpacho at a party.
