Got this from a Food and Wine email and posting it as I thought it looked rather interesting. Recipe by Joanne Chang. "Is this an American take on a Vietnamese classic or a Vietnamese take on an American classic? Either way, these spicy burgers topped with Tabasco-spiced mayonnaise, slivers of crunchy pickled carrots and sprigs of cilantro are wonderful." I think I'd opt to try these on the bbq instead of frying ...

Amighetti's is a well known Italian restaurant in St. Louis, where I grew up. They have a great deli sandwich that I still crave to this day (even out here in CA). It has a really delicious spread that makes it different from other sandwiches. The true key is their famous bread, but in a pinch, you can make this sandwich at home with your own bread.

This is Day 3: Lunch, on the 21 Day Wonder Diet. You can use whatever variety of cabbage you choose. You can buy the roast beef, already cooked, from the deli. Make the coleslaw the night before, then make the sandwich the next morning, or at lunch time. This lunch is to be followed by an afternoon snack of 1 small pear.

All amounts may be increased or decreased to suit taste, and if possible purchase the submarine style sandwich buns that are about 9-inches long --- these are delicious!

We all have our different tastes for burgers I like mine flavorful and juicy this recipe will give you the best of both! see the bottom of the recipe for tips on even more extra juicy burgers! --- making a indentation in the middle of the uncooked burger will prevent the burgers from puffing up into meatballs shapes while cooking and keeps them flat --- do not add any salt into the burger mixture as the dry onion soup already has a lot of salt content, you can sprinkle some on towards the end of cooking if needed, if desired you may add in 3-4 tablespoons of your favorite barbecue sauce to the ground beef mixture

Because of my German heritage, I try to use the month of October to cook more German-inspired foods. When my sons were younger, they loved sauerkraut and any dish that contained it. This was a favorite of theirs and I liked that it was a one skillet, easy and tasty sandwich. I served it with German potato salad. Yum!!
