"Is this an American take on a Vietnamese classic or a Vietnamese take on an American classic?     Because of my German heritage, I try to use the month of October to cook more German-inspired foods. When my sons were younger, they loved sauerkraut and any dish that contained it. This was a favorite of theirs and I liked that it was a one skillet, easy and tasty sandwich. I served it with German potato salad. Yum!!
