The news is out - scientists at my old university, (Leeds University in West Yorkshire) have discovered the PERFECT way to make a "Bacon Butty", that quintessential British sandwich, and they have devised a mathematical formula for it!! The bacon butty is one of my FAVOURITE sandwiches of all times.......especially when doused in HP Sauce or Worcestershire Sauce! Here is my method - it's hardly a recipe, more of an idea and an assembly job! I have posted their mathematical formula at the end of the recipe - my formula is: Eat your bacon butty whilst it’s still hot and crispy!! Please increase the quantities as needed. I like to use smoked bacon, but any good quality dry cure bacon will be fine.

I had made some rolls out of Recipe#81211 by Chef Marie. And didn't want to just put any ordinary sandwich fillings in it. So, I came up with the idea for a chicken sandwich which I think is so good it doesn't need any mayo. And if you know me I eat mayo, on any sandwich.:) .This is a recipe for one so if you want you can make another one to share, or maybe not ;)The ham that I used was the wafer type luncheon meat. The cooking time includes time under the broiler. Submitted to "ZAAR" on January 14th, 2009.

I got this recipe from an Ingles Summer fun booklet. It's really easy and the slaw is a delicious change from regular slaw. Even DS who doesn't like slaw liked this. The slow cooker makes it extra easy. You can also substitute chuck roast or skinless, boneless chicken thighs or breasts. Enjoy!

Cucumber sandwiches are made with fresh springy white or brown bread, lightly buttered, and with the crusts cut off – the perfect cool summer snack to go with your afternoon tea. This recipe idea came from a friend who was lucky enough to attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace - she swears this is how they made them! Cucumber sandwiches achieved literary notoriety in Oscar Wilde’s play The Importance of Being Earnest (1895) when Algernon devours an entire plate full in the first act and there are none left for his aunt, Lady Bracknell. They are presented by Jack as being a delicacy: “Hallo! Why all these cups? Why cucumber sandwiches? Why such reckless extravagance in one so young? Who is coming to tea?”

My mother found this recipe in a magazine years ago. We have since lost the recipe and just been slapping them together without one.

The name says it all--this sandwich is big, thick and buttery, with a slight kick from the horseradish! Very quick and easy to prepare, makes a yummy lunch or simple dinner. Serve warm, with a pickle spear and chips, add a cup of soup or side salad for a more substantial meal. A side of Avocado Horseradish Spread recipe #284084 #284084 makes a tasty dipping sauce. May use sliced oven roasted or deli roast beef, or my Shredded Beef (Crock Pot) recipe #269126 #269126, pile it on as thickly as you wish, and I hope you enjoy!
