This is different and refreshing. I took it out of one of my cookbooks title Company's coming Greatest Hits: Mexican.

    Recipe #234832

A friend's recipe, this is always a hit. Various nuts and cheeses can be substituted with ease. The dressing rocks!

    Recipe #222156

This is from Cooking Light magazine.

    Recipe #219710

Really easy, great tangy taste, nice color

Piquant, spicy, tart and sweet, this is like a bit of sweet/sour kimchee, only Chinese style (numbing peppercorns instead of a chili paste), served at room temperature or chilled. Modified recipe 2/11/13 with a much improved result.

This is a nice change from ordinary coleslaw. The sesame oil gives a distinct flavor. Toasted sesame seed or slivered almonds can also be added for an extra touch.

One of my DH's favorite salads. If you eat meat, cooked chicken, fish or pork would be really a great addition for a main course salad.

A simple and very delicious little salad or side dish that will compliment most summer menus. This recipe was adapted from the book "Yamuna's Table".

    Recipe #63908

This is so good that I make a bowl of this along with regular ranch for buffets and this one gets eaten up immediately by everyone. Perfect for a dip or salad dressing.

    Recipe #132916

Nutritional yeast is a godsend for folks who are vegan or those dairy-intolerant. I think this recipe gives traditional Caesar salad dressings a run for their money. Nutritional yeast is available in bulk in well-stocked grocery stores. I forgot the recipe source!?

    Recipe #143126

For those of you who have never tried it, tempeh is a made from fermented soybeans that have been pressed into firm cakes. It has a "nutty" and meaty texture, and, like tofu, it absorbs flavors of surrounding ingredients really well. Tempeh is a very popular "meat" alternative for vegetarian cooks. The first step in this recipe has you poach the tempeh in boiling water, which mellows out the flavor a bit, and makes it a bit more digestible. This is yet another recipe from, my favorite: The Vegetarian Meat and Potatoes Cookbook.

    Recipe #86071

Made with chickpeas (garbanzo beans), this is a wonderful sandwich filling, especially for vegetarians who miss tuna salad. I liked it more oniony so I added a little extra minced onion, but it's still wonderful without it. I enjoyed this the most stuffed in pita bread with slices of ripe plum tomatoes, and also would serve it often on crackers as a snack or appetizer.

Quick & easy picnic salad - very colorful on your plate. The dressing is very tasty. Adapted from Taste of Home's Country Cooking 2001. Hey - sometimes I only have minutes to prepare a quick from-the-pantry take-along (I can't be alone here!!).

from the culinary institute of america, this is a lovely salad to use your fresh herbs. Truffle oil is available at trader joe's and some gourmet markets.

As served at Hacienda Los Lingues in Chile, the oldest hacienda in South America. Serve this at your next cookout. It is terrific.

    Recipe #10003

This is a warm marinated salad that I make often. It is so good! I often make a meal of just this salad by itself, and some good bread. I hope you will give it a try, you won't be disappointed It is colorful as well as tasty and travels well too because of no mayo. It is best served warm or room temperature.

My new favorite cucumber salad. The addition of garlic and cumin adds a new twist the traditional versions.
