This recipe was given to me by my best friend who lived in Brazil for a while. Its a great barbecue side dish or potluck dish. *Measurements are approximate and are to taste* I personally like more lemon than stated below. This salad is supposed to be a little tart.
The best I've ever eaten; it's addictive. The Dressing is the key!...Repeat after me...Green Goddess, only! If you can't find it in the market, use Recipe #73913. This can be made ahead and served cold. Potluck? Take a copy of the recipe with you; they will want it!
A delightful summer main dish. The cakes can be made ahead and frozen. Make small cakes to serve as an appetizer. This recipe is from our special friends - Ray and Anita. They were our next door neighbors for 23 years. Our children grew up with 2 sets of parents.
A simple and delicious chicken salad you can put together in no time. The flavors of the rotisserie chicken mingled with the vinaigrette dressing and veggies Are delightful. This recipe makes extra dressing, so keep some in the fridge for another salad. I always make extra and this recipe accounts for that ;)
This is a REFRESHING, tangy Salad--low in fat. If you want it creamy and not so low in fat, just add 2 tablespoons mayonnaise.
Be sure to slice the cucumbers and onions very very thin!
Serve as salad or top open faced sandwiches with it!
A very easy French Dressing with a few twists. This is a make ahead recipe wth a yield of about 250 mls or 1/4 pint; it keeps for about 7 to 10 days with no problems at all. I have stated dried herbs & seasonings - you can use fresh herbs & seasonings too, but this decreases the keeping time slightly. The oil content in this is considerably lower than most classic French dressings - making it a healthier option, and you know what has gone into it too!
This a potato salad that tastes like a baked potato and is very different. Sometimes you like a salad that strays from the norm. You put anything into it that you would put on a baked potato. You don't have to be limited to what is listed. Because I need to give measurements, I tried to put down about what I would use, but I don't usually measure anything because it depends on how many potatoes I bake. Use your own judgment.
This is as close as you're going to get to the original. Very yummy and oh so easy to make.
Edited to add: according to some reviews the amount of slaw should be increased. Use your own judgement as to how you like your coleslaw as I know some like it a bit dryer than others.
Posted this recipe as a request on the message board. I found the recipe in the "Blueberries and Polar Bears" cookbook. The recipe suggests serving this with "beef or Jalaneo Goose, or on top of a beef sandwich the next day!" I guessed on the serving size, because it wasn't given.
From TOH Simple and Delicious Mar/April edition 2008. I'm saving this for a spring salad choice when baby spinach is in season locally. It looks very simple to put together. I'm really drawn to it by the warm dressing you use over the salads. Makes 8 salad plates/servings - so adjust as necessary. I've already made a few adjustments based on my personal preferences (cooked bacon over bacon bits, vidalia onion over red, and added the red peppers).
