Made this tonight for my "Survivor" dinner group and it was great. Easy and fast to do with a food processor and the flavor was perfect. I was concerned about 4 teaspoons of celery seed, but it was just right. I'm definitely adding this to my favorites. This recipe is 3 WW Pts.
Helen is my mother. no matter what i do, i cant get the coleslaw to taste like hers but this recipe comes very close. i think the love she had for us came through her pores when she squeezed the cabbage. cant buy that or duplicate it. thanks mom, i miss you terribly.
I make this quite often for BBQ parties and everyone loves it! plan ahead, this salad must be prepared a day ahead and left in the fridge overnight to blend the flavors, it will take on a completely different flavor --- I have even added in lightly blanched broccoli and/or cauliflower florets to the veggies, feel free to add in whatever you want to --- remember to add in the white sugar to suit taste if you prefer a sweeter coleslaw adjust the sugar amount, I have added up to about 1 cup, taste the dressing before adding to the salad if you think it needs more sugar then add it into the dressing before mixing into the slaw just make certain to whisk very well so that the sugar is mixed in completely.
Typical German Rohkost ("raw food"). Healthy, quick and full of flavour.Slightly sweet and refreshing. Eat as a lunch with wholemeal bread or as a light dinner with bread and an additional tomato salad.
This is a REFRESHING, tangy Salad--low in fat. If you want it creamy and not so low in fat, just add 2 tablespoons mayonnaise.
Be sure to slice the cucumbers and onions very very thin!
Serve as salad or top open faced sandwiches with it!
A tasty alternative to the same old green salad, but prep work made easy using "bag salad" as the base.
Note to World Tour participants. I'm not an expert on Canadian cuisine - however, after reviewing many Canadian recipes, it appeared that the ingredients used in this recipe would be typical for the region.
When I arrived in Iceland, this was my DH’s 1st food request & I went thru a lot of RZ cucumber salad recipes to be sure it wasn’t a duplicate. Siggi & my sister named this because it was original w/me & because of my twissis internet identity. For best results, don’t make this a dy ahead, but do allow at least 2 hrs for the flavors to blend & the “cream” to develop from the finished ingredient mix. I promise you’ll like this.
