I made up this recipe as a copy cat to the tomato onion salad served at my favorite Italian place. It's not exactly the same but it's as close as I could get. This is a great veggie dish to have with pizza, lasagne or any Italian dish. UPDATED to adjust the amounts: I rarely use measuring utensils, especially when I'm making up a recipe and don't have time or the inclination to write everything down as I'm doing it. after reading your reviews I did notice some problems with the recipe...hopefully I've fixed them!
My sister Debbie has made this for years. After a long overdue absense from our family dinners, it came back this Easter with a bang! A very light and easy salad that goes with everything. May it grace many family dinners again! Chill time is not included in prep/cook time.
Be prepared for the best Greek salad on the planet! --- plan ahead the dressing needs at least 2 or more hours to blend the flavors, I sometimes add in 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese to the dressing for a more cheesy dressing, all amounts may be adjusted to taste ---- to marinade the salad allow to sit at room temperature before serving, see bottom of instructions --- you will find this and many more of my recipes posted here http://kittencalskitchen.com/2009/04/13/kittens-famous-greek-salad/ ---also see my recipe #359292
Wandering around Trader Joe's one day I found them sampling this delicious Broccoli Salad. I make it all the time now. Everytime I make it everyone just raves about the flavor, especially my husband. He would ask for it everyday if I would make it that often. The original recipe calls for 1 package of Prosciutto but we have always omitted that.
These are a must to make for the holidays (or anytime) they are so simple to make! These can be made up to 4 days ahead and store in an airtight container. Can double the recipe. To spice the nuts up add in a pinch of cayenne pepper and about 1/2 teaspoon black pepper in with the sugar and salt, but that is only optional. Make certain to generously spray the baking sheet with cooking spray, I use recipe #78579
A great side dish! These ingredients are always on hand. If you want to stretch it add cooked pasta and more dressing and chill. The picture is with yellow bell peppers. I like the red peppers for a nicer contrast of colors.
The dressing is what makes this salad! You don't have to adhere to the list of salad ingredients: put in whatever strikes your fancy. I usually grill up extra chicken breasts when we're having grilled chicken and use them to make up the salad for the next day.
Sweet pears and rich blue cheese combine together for an elegant salad. Topped with balsamic vinegar dressing this is bound to get rave reviews alongside any meal or on its own! Another great recipe from Taste of home.
