    Salads

If salads weren't so much work, I'd have them more often — that's often what I order at restaurants. I love salads, I just don't like all the washing, cutting, chopping, etc. to make them happen. I know, I'm so lazy!! I do love a good salad and I have my favourites. Here's some I've found, some I've tried, and many that I PLAN on trying.

Just right for an unassuming side-dish. Keeps 'em coming back for more! Very addictive--be careful!

    Recipe #220956

This is a great alternative to the traditional taco salad. It truly is a whole meal salad; just add hot, crusty rolls and maybe some white wine and a light desssert for a great luncheon or supper. It goes together quickly, just be sure to have the ingredients chilled. This recipe was given to me by a Hispanic teacher at our school so I tend to think of it as "authentic".

    Recipe #140855

I found this is the May 2005 issue of Shape magazine. I made it for supper last night and it was great! My 10-year-old had three helpings, but my other kids weren't big fans of it. It's definitely a grown-up dish. Just a note, I doubled the amount of avacado and used imitation crab meat.

Truly, a different, delicious pasta salad. So yummy I have had guests make a meal out of it. It is easily doubled to feed a large crowd. Wonderful served as a lunch with crusty bread.

Here's another variation of broccoli salad!

    Recipe #62662

I tasted this salad at a campgound supper near Mt. Rushmore. I pleaded with the cook to share the recipe, and now I am happy to share it with you

    Recipe #100203

I used to love that stuff years ago. Here's how to make it even better homemade. (The bacon ranch one.)

    Recipe #138528

This was in a recent issue of the kids page in the Sunday paper. It's so easy that even a child can do it and yet it is very good! You can vary the seasonings to your taste.

    Recipe #110930

Wonderful salad using the fruits of the season.

    Recipe #190302

When choosing salads as a low-fat diet choice be careful of ingredients used and the amount of dressing drizzled over the salad. Both can add up fat grams and calories quickly.

    Recipe #2625

Really easy, great tangy taste, nice color

    Recipe #49552

Enjoy on a bed of lettuce or in buns or pita bread.

    Recipe #153579

Both really good ways to eat spinach! Romaine lettuce can be substituted if it's more readily available, cheaper, or just more to your liking.

    Recipe #186355

Enjoy the island flavors of WARM CARIBBEAN CHICKEN AND RICE SALAD WITH ALMONDS (see recipe). Serve the whole-meal salad with LEMON POPPY SEED MUFFINS.

    Recipe #184715

I haven't tried this yet, but it's definitely on my to-make list yet before summer's completely over. Looks like a great side dish for a Tex-Mex kind of meal -- or a potluck party. From TOH magazine.

This recipe is from Womack House, a long ago country kitchen in Fulshear, TX. It tastes like summer!

I had never heard of this dish before tasting it last summer at my fiancee's house. Then, everywhere I went it began to pop up. Its simple, down-to-earth charm depends upon the freshness of the ingredients- I can't wait for tomato season to return!

    Recipe #15277

One of my summer favourites, this is a super quick pasta salad -- and a great way to dress up Kraft Dinner. Time given does not include chill time before serving.

    Recipe #179163

Of all the salads listed by the same name, none are as simple as the recipe I always use. (Remember, I'm a lazy cook!!)
