There is no shortening or butter in these biscuits, light fluffy and high with leftover mashed potatoes or instant mashed potatoes and with a slight touch of herbs in the dry dressing mix. This is so easy! One of my hubby's favorites.
This is your basic Sour Dough bread starter to be used over and over again. Look for the sour dough bread recipe to make use of this starter.
There are two ways to make sour dough starter one without yeast where you feed the starter daily and this recipe where you just let the yeast do the work and let it sit for 3 or 4 days. Be sure that you clean the jar well before putting the saved starter back in it.
These savoury muffins have a delicate taste of fresh green asparagus paired with black pepper and sour cream. I've made these for my daddy's birthday and thought they were great! Very unusual for a muffin, but very tasty! I hope you'll like them, too.
For those of you who wish to watch the waistline, or cannot have sugar or fat for health reasons, this is a tasty bread which I make twice a week for my Dear Wife, who is diabetic. She highly enjoys it, and I hope you do, too. [This is highly adapted and readapted from the Bread Machine instruction book.]
I got this recipe in a church cookbook years ago and have been making them ever since. They are extremely tender with a flavor that no store bought biscuit could ever come up with. Makes breakfast or any meal special. (And they are so easy too)
This dough is great for making pizza pockets, hot sandwich pockets, fruit pies ("fritter") and whatever you can imagine. It doesn't take long to make if you have those little dough presses that make the crimped edges. This came from my efforts to make fritters for my husband like his mom used to make. Success!! :)The cook time will be different depending on filling, so it is an estimated time for fried pies. Cooking fillings for hot pockets will increase prep and cook time.
Rumour is that this recipe is the one they use at Red Lobster. Ever go there and they offer these little cheese scones that everyone wants and they can keep em comming?
I'll tell you, I make these at home and they are the best I've ever tasted.
A little thing I tried also, I brush the scones with butter AFTER they are cooked. I find I like it a lot like that.
