I love rice! Just plain with butter and salt, with a splash of soy sauce, with seasonings, with meat mixed in....it's all good.
Here, then, are some rice recipes I've come across and tried or that sound like I want to try them.
I've seen many varying dishes of rice in Turkey, all of them quite good, so this is just one of many. This variation has a good taste, but because the flavor isn't too bold it makes an easy side dish to most meals. Afiyet Olsun!
A Syrian friend gave me this. They got it off the internet because they missed their mom's rice. I wish I knew who to credit. My DH who lived in Lebanon when he was young even says this is like the rice his mom makes, maybe even a little better!
I figured out that you can make this in gargantuan quantities and freeze in containers for later. It really saves time...only about 10 minutes to heat up and is a great addition to any Chinese meal. Great way to use extra cooked rice too! I have a rice cooker and it's really easy to make extra. Cook time includes cooking "real" rice and chicken.
My family eats alot of this dish.I love cooking this because using the basic ingredients. You can mix and match veggies, spices and broths to suit your tastes or whatever you have on hand at the time. You can also add browned, drained hamburger or leftover chopped meat to make it an easy main dish. Its never failed me yet.
Submitted per request for recipes using bulgur and even though I haven't made this I thought it sounded really interesting and I am planning on making it soon. Recipe source: Bon Appetit (September 1984)
While this seems unusual, I am told it is common in Iranian (Persian) households. I got the recipe from a young Iranian girl I worked with years ago; the recipe is from her mother. The one time I made it, it fell apart; I hope you have better luck!
These are really good either straight from the pan or thawed and reheated. I don't think many meat lovers will miss the meat in these. I just ate them plain, but you could freeze them with sauce and reheat the whole recipe.
A very low fat, and different approach to pizza. After not having pizza for a year and a half, this was a true blessing to my taste buds. You can top with your favorite pizza toppings. This is a recipe created by Joanna Lund. Prep time does not include time needed to prepare the rice.
