Indian rice with all the spices.

Recipe #149269

This pilaf perfumes the whole house as it cooks! You will surely get ooohs and aaahs from this dish. I'm not sure of it's orgins since all of the ingredients could either be Morrocan or Persian. The garnish of pistachio nuts say Persian but the nuts could just as easy be pine nuts or almonds. Lamb fixed with mint would be great or a fragrant chicken dish to go along with this side.

This is so delicious and so simple. It's a little exotic, very flavorful, and will make your kitchen smell wonderful as it cooks - and my preference is to add extra cumin! I've never made it without first soaking the rice and lentils, but the dish could surely be adapted to no-soaking if you're looking to cut some of the prep time.

For best results here make sure your spices are nice and fresh! I serve mine with Recipe #203296

This is the first dish I learnt as an adult and still it is my speciality... there's only one word to describe it... yum! When I'm cooking this for my husband and myself, I usually remove the legs whole, sprinkle them with spices and brown under grill, and then add the remaining chicken to the rice as per instructions.

from bon appetit, this makes a lovely side dish to fish or poultry

Recipe #66568

This is as close to my mom's recipe as I can get with actual measurements since she eyeballs the ingredients and never measures. It is a "classic" version, and not the spicy or pineapple version you so often see in Thai restaurants. She is a native of Thailand and owned her own fantastic Thai restaurant for many years. This recipe is one of my favorites because it is so easy. The key is to use leftover, cold, jasmine rice and Thai fish sauce ONLY, no soy sauce or it will be Chinese fried rice. Serve this with Nam Prik Nam Pla Sauce Recipe #92042 to add a little spice and something extra to this dish!

Sometimes I use 2 1/2 tsps of roasted dry garlic flakes instead of the fresh. Easy side dish goes great with chicken

Recipe #71739

From the Thursday magazine.

Probably not the quickest fried rice but I promise, worth the effort. If you want it spicy hot, add chili peppers with the Chinese sausages or ham. It's imperative to have all the ingredients assembled and ready to add to the wok before beginning to cook. This dish is a complete meal in a wok so it will make double or more the servings if used as a side dish.
