Yesterday, Feb 14th, was a VERY special day for me. It marked the conclusion of a 5 month fast period on every Friday for me. As per the religious beliefs and the holy book,I made this sweet rice-milk pudding yesterday. Also, it was Valentine's Day, and being the "sweetest" holiday, I had been only more glad that I could finally give this recipe a shot! I found this recipe in a magazine few days back. My mom and me had this for our Valentine's dinner at the end, as dessert:) She really liked it(and she is NOT a sweets person) and said, I must write "Dig in" to please her when I share the recipe on Zaar. That's why that's there in the recipe at the end;) HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! May the fragrance of love touch every soul and its essence smell stronger with time!

    Recipe #57247

This recipe originally won first prize ($1 Million) in a national cook-off of some sort (I think Pillsbury) several years ago. I can see why - it is a wonderful combination of flavours. The recipe is quite easy to make and is very economical. I have also substituted the chicken thighs for boneless, skinless breasts and it works just fine. The thighs are definitely better though as they are more moist. Do try this - you'll love it.

An Israeli dish served at Ori Apple, a hummus restaurant on St. Marks Place in Lower Manhattan. An "eat anytime" dish. From an article in the Wednesday food section of the New York Times.

A classic Spanish dish. The basic ingredients are olive oil, saffron and rice. This is a seafood version with garlic and saffron. Posted for ZWT 2007.

The perfect Hungarian comfort food. Serve over my posted nokedli recipe. This recipe has been passed down in my family for generations. I use Better Than Bouillon chicken base to make the broth.

I found this on a website and tweaked it, after having this in several restaraunts while living overseas. I cannot find it anyplace stateside so this is the best interpretation of Chili shrimp I could find.

My mate Barb makes this wonderful dish brilliantly, even after half a bottle of white wine:) you can add tomato paste if you like, or even chopped capsicum or mushrooms. This dish is fine with just wine and water, but much much better with well flavoured chicken stock. I like to use about 1/2 cup of stock that I get when I do chinese chicken wings. You can use lite sour cream for this dish, but the sauce with most likely seperate, still tastes great though.

I went on a missions trip almost 13 years ago with Teen Missions International and this was one of the meals served. I made sure to come home with the recipe as it was a team favourite!

Here's a great scalloped potato recipe that's so easy and absolutely delicious. The leftovers are just as good, maybe even better, the next day. This is one of my favorite and most prepared recipes, from my 1971 Florence Junior Welfare League cookbook.

An oven-fried version of Eggplant Parmesan that eliminates a lot of the fat. From Weight Watchers book--"Simply Delicious". 5 WW points per serving

    Recipe #295791

Although I'm posting this for the 2005 World Tour, this is for me a dish from childhood. My Cape Verdean mother made this often and served it with tuna fish cakes. I loved mine smothered in catsup. This makes a huge batch and we often served it reheated with more onions, linguica and fried eggs for breakfast the next day. Traditionally, it is made with kidney or lima beans but I remember Nana (my grandmother) making it with peas to accommodate my bean-hating aunt. Enjoy!

This is a tasty, quick, and easy dish to prepare when you have no time to plan for supper. This is so easy to prepare and will please a hungry group of children on a chilly day. You may substitute peas & carrots for the green beans if you prefer. You may also substitute ground lamb for the ground beef, or even leftover minced roasted beef/lamb (in which case just saute the onions alone and mix with the cooked meat). I usually use homemade leftover garlic mashed potatoes in this, but if all you have is instant, well - this is supposed to be a Lazy Mom's dish, so go ahead. I garnish this with a sprinkle of paprika if I am leaving out the cheese. Don't worry about the lack of salt & pepper in the meat - the soup provides all the seasonings and is the "secret" ingredient. Doubles well, and also can be made the day before, chilled and baked the next day for a hot lunch.

This is from a Bisquick box - a great comfort dish after working all day. I make this with a Caesar salad and dinner is done!!

    Recipe #100215

Recipe is originally from the Food Network courtesy of Rachael Ray, but I tweaked it to fit our tastes. Very quick & easy shrimp recipe that's done on the stovetop. If your tastes desire spicy & garlic, then this recipe is just for you.
