Nothing fancy here.... Our 5 year old loves those Snackables, so I make my own rendition for his snack time at kindergarten. I like it better because I get to choose healthier options like real cheese and organic meats. I use the low sodium crackers or the whole wheat ones.
For our 5 year olds lunch box for either snack time or lunch for his first year at kindergarten that are reasonably healthy but will bring a smile to his face when he finds them. This recipe would also be good for long car trips.
Your kids will fly right home for these delicious after-school nutritious snacks that look like beautiful butterflies. Add a few raisins on each "apple wing" and they transform into butterflies with spotted wings. Spice up the flavor by adding 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon to the peanut butter.
Mrs. Walker was my Sunday school teacher and we used to do this in the church kitchen, occasionally. This is my first memory of cooking that I cherish to this day. She keeps her age a closely guarded secret but is rumoured to be 115+ years old and perhaps, immortal. She has out lived three husbands and four children. She is still sharp as the Bowie knife she carries in her purse. I don't know why she carries a Bowie knife in her purse- but she always has. I asked her about it years ago and she said, "You would be surprised how often it comes in handy, Honey." I suppose it does, Mrs. Walker. God bless you. BTW- she is thrilled that I want to pass this on to another generation of schoolchildren. She was surprised that I remembered doing this with her over 35 years ago and was touched. When asked how to do it- she rattled off the instructions faster than I could write!
I've eaten this bag-n-boil recipe for 40+ years with no toxicity what-so-ever, obviously. If it was toxic... I would be in too poor of health to type.
Google the topic for yourself and make your own judgment. The danger is greatly exaggerated.
I created this one day when my 4yo was tired of the same old snacks. This was all I had on hand but I was able to put it together and give it a cutesy name so my daughter loved it! This would also make a fun breakfast. You could even substitute raisins for the blueberries. Personally, I am not sure about the blueberry/peanut butter combo but hey, my daughter loves it and that's what counts!
Great to have on hand for a quick lunch or appetizer. You can add any of your favourite pizza toppings to the mix, onions, peppers, sausage, cheddar cheese, etc. my family prefers plain old pepperoni--boring but they love it)
You'll never buy frozen mozzarella sticks again! These are easy and absolute delicious with none of the unhealthy additives of the commercial kind. I serve these with my own Angie's Bella Marinara sauce (with the spices punched up a little), but these would also be good with a creamy ranch-style dip. Vary the herbs in the breading if you like, but I like this combination with the marinara sauce.
That's right folks, the Jimmy Buffett fan in me is sharing a "Buffett-inspired" recipe to get into the "swing of things" and gear up for tailgating season. Also lots of fun for kids' snacks or barbecues. I saw this in a little shop in Estes Park, CO and tried out some things to make a "copy" when I got home.
Chef's hat off to my 10 year old DS. While making brushetta for a neighbor's BBQ I found I still had quite a bit of french baguette bread left and my little Chef in the making came up with this recipe. Funny thing was that the guests scarfed up his recipe faster than my brushetta. Very kid friendly recipe and the adults raved too. You probably could add some pizza sauce too, but I had none and it didn't seem to matter. If you try these, please write a review as I have a very anxious DS waiting to read them :)
I think this is a great caramel popcorn recipe, and I have tried quite a few! They were either too sticky or too sweet. This one is neither. The caramel dries well and doesn't stick to your fingers, and the sweetness is just right. I use spanish peanuts in this, but you could use other kinds of nuts, too. Here I was searching for the perfect caramel corn recipe, when all the while it was right in my recipe box! This is done in the microwave, and is very simple to make.
