Guava and cheese (Guyaba con Queso) is a typical combination for Cubans. It is delicious! They have Guava Skins that are made in syrup and then combined with cream cheese and "Cuban" crackers - oh my!!! This is an acquired taste and one that is NOT diet friendly!! This was given to me by a woman who works in the activities dept and is trying to start her own dessert business. Didn't include chilling time of about 3 hours up to overnight.
This was from our local paper around the 4th of July, for a holiday snack. It was easy and delicious! You could probably sub. homemade granola for the pecan sandies and it would still be great. The prep time is a guess as I don't remember how long it took.
Elegant way to serve cheesecakes - makes 12 beautiful little mini cheesecakes! Delicious and low fat! You can't ask for anything more!! You can replace the ricotta by cottage cheese. If you only have large marshmallows, use scissors to cut into smaller pieces. Adapted from a R. Reisman recipe.
This is so easy and so delicious. I love cream cheese and strawberries, so when I saw this I had to try it. Instead of using store-bought jelly, I had made some sugar-free strawberry freezer jam earlier and that's what I used. Deeelightful! This would be great for a tea party or just a bunch of gals getting together to chat.
Paula Deen is my favorite chef - EVER! If I had to choose another mother, she'd be who I'd pick. This is her son Jamie's favorite birthday cake. I'm posting it here because not only do I want to try it, but I never want to lose it. And if you could see my office, you'd know that if I wrote it down, it would not be found until the day I stopped looking for it. So, here it is, safe and sound for everyone to enjoy.
A beautiful cupcake for Christmas -- or Valentine's Day. The cake has become almost traditional for the upcoming season and now here is an individual-sized serving to highlight a dessert tray. The recipe came from a book of cupcake recipes and decorating ideas. I'm sorry to say I know neither the name of the book nor the author but am grateful to have gotten such a great recipe! Note that the recipe for a suggested frosting is included at the end of the recipe, but any white frosting of your choice may be used.
Edited to add: The recipe comes from the book "Hey There, Cupcake!" by Clare Crespo. It contains lots of decorating ideas.
These comments are from their cookbook:
"At Magnolia we decided to make our cake not quite a traditional yellow cake or a traditional sponge cake, given the use of whole eggs in our recipe. We're sure you'll agree this recipe is moist, delicious and makes a beautiful layer cake or cupcakes for birthdays or any celebration. Frost with pink buttercream icing and lots of colored sprinkles as we do, and feel as though you're at your seventh birthday party all over again!"
I got this recipe from a friend. I make these often and take them to many potlucks, office parties, the cottage, picnics, children's lunch and the list goes on. Recipe from the cookbook "Just The Best."
It was really hot last weekend here in TX, and I wanted something cool to make. My friend had sent this to me a while back and I decided to make it...boy am I glad! It was delicious!! Very cool and creamy and oh so easy! I used strawberry Jell-o and it turned out a really pretty pink! I can't wait to try lemon Jello-and maybe strawberry-banana Jell-o and wonder what orange Jell-o would be like? Cook time is refrigeration time.
Well, after looking for this recipe on here and not having any luck, I decided to find it and post it. In my opinion, this is the best pumpkin pie. Make your own graham cracker crust or buy an already prepared one.
This cake is so light & moist and has so much flavor. It's really delightful. I got it from a cookbook back in 1985 that was comprised of everybodies favorites. This was my mom's all time favorite cake. You may have trouble finding coconut cream pudding, so you can sub with vanilla pudding.
This is my husband's grandmother's recipe that is cherished by the family. They are the best cookie that melts in your mouth. They don't have the normal peanut butter fork crossing...but more of a crackled sugar type cookie... My husband comes from a huge family - and these are one of the cherished recipes!!
