This is pretty much how lasagna gets made in Australia, usually no cottage cheese or ricotta. I have been making it this way for over 30 years, but can't find a similar recipe on here yet. I find it easier to make the beef sauce the day before, and reheat it a little, but I like to use the cheese sauce hot and freshly made. This mix fills a tray 12x8x3 for me, and I find it easier to cut through the top layer with kitchen scissors before taking to it with a knife to cut into serving portions.

I got this from the Best of Bridge and just like the name suggests, it is extremely rich and fattening! However, it is awesome! The mix of ingredients sounds absolutely disgusting, but it is very tasty. I usually serve this to company and always get rave reviews. One of my friends who came to fix my computer a few years ago said he wasn't leaving til he got a doggy bag! Don't let the ingredients fool you. This is an amazing dish. Serve in small pieces because it is extremely rich, but I guarantee your guests will ask for seconds. I usually serve this with [recipe=91550]Spinach, Strawberry, Mandarin Salad With Poppyseed Dressing[/recipe]which tart sweetness is great to offset the richness of the lasagna.

I came up with this recipe on my own after taking the best from several others I'd tried. The last time I made this for a party, everyone went crazy for it. I received two of the best compliments I’ve ever received for my cooking. One person told me it was the best lasagna he’d tasted in his life. The other person, an Italian woman, told me this was better than her mother’s recipe. On that note, here is the recipe which I prefer to make vegetarian but with the meat variation mentioned at the bottom.
