This recipe tops the rigatoni with a bechamel style sauce before broiling. Can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the ground beef. I also just make this in a large casserole dish rather than individual bowls (it makes a LOT to be considered four servings).

It will be in my regular rotation from now on, it was easy, quick and very tasty. I will change a few things though...I will use tomatoes with Italian seasoning and maybe a little more cheese next time! I even think it would be good if you added some ricotta to the mix. There are a lot of possibilities, but it was good as it is written. I doubled the recipe and it was fine. Enjoy!

This dish can be made two ways: 1. The easy weeknight throw together way, 2. The good for company restaurant style way. I thought this way extremely spicy, my husband thought it was perfect so, spice to taste. Serve with salad and bread! I made the cream cheese a range, I prefer it with less but have added more to cut the spiciness when making it for both of us, so taste and add as desired.
This pizza sauce recipe was given to me as a wedding present, written on the inside cover of a pizza cookbook. It is thick, saucy, spicy and delicious. I'll never use anything else on my homemade pizzas. I like to double or triple it and put it in Ziploc bags in my freezer.

COOKS NOTES: Leftover cheese filling may be kept in refrigerator for 2 weeks or frozen up to 3 months. Also makes good filling for manicotti. If using flat cookie sheet...be sure to form a "rim" so that melted shortening doesn't run off.

I know, not another lasagna recipe. This is a delicious change from the usual recipe. My husband loves it because of the cream cheese and pepperoni in it. I don't remember were I got it but, have had it for years. Hope you will try it.
