Our son always loved this recipe. He never knew it was made with you-know-what, FAKE crab, until after he worked on a crab boat a few years ago! Of course, you can always use real crab. It's easy to put together and with a salad it makes a nice meal. I always make it with lowfat sour cream, lowfat soup, and I just use butter flavored cooking spray to replace the butter. When done this way it cuts out almost all the fat, and it's still good.
In my younger days, many of my roommates were vegetarians. One night when it was my turn to cook - I developed this meat-free lasagna recipe. I'm not a vegetarian, but I really liked it! I hope you do too.
A great side dish or a meal on its own. This is a Polish/Hungarian dish. Can use bacon but I cut back on that to make it meatless. Also can garnish with poppy seeds. Adding peas for color and nutrition. Bacon is a yummy addition for those that eat meat. Just brown drain most of the fat then add butter and oil and brown onions. Be sure to give the onions a nice brown color using a med high heat.
This combination is so autumnal. Roast your own chestnuts if you wish or you can buy cooked vacuum-packed chestnuts at specialty stores. This is rich, filling risotto from Food and Drink. This will serve two as a main course, or four as a side dish. :)
This is a favorite of everyone who tastes it. I get rave reviews anytime I take it to a potluck. The only difference is I use this sort cooking time version. I normally cook my sauce 3-4 hours very low.
I know what you are thinking. "What are rice krispie cereal doing in a pasta dish?" Well I promise you I thought the very same thing. With much hesitation I tried this recipe 13 years ago and to my disbelief and excitement it turned out FABULOUS! This is one of my most favorite recipes to take to a neighbor. Not only is it very tasty but its a great conversation maker! I hope you enjoy it as much as my family and children do, they love it!
This is AWESOME pasta sauce! Much different than alfredo-ish sauces, which I don't like. This one could be healthy, depending on which ingredients you use. I found the original version of this in a cookbook I received as a gift, but this is very different from that recipe.
