When you're out of mayonnaise, blend a batch of this Homemade Mayonnaise in under 1 minute. Because of the raw egg, this is not recommended for very young children or elderly persons, although washing the egg shell reduces the chance for contamination.
This is the only method I use for the best poached eggs, you will never go wrong with this recipe! you may of coarse increase the eggs to whatever amount desired, the addition of a small amount of milk will create a softer egg :)
I was born and raised in Philadelphia and this was my favorite lunch at the luncheonettes (sandwich shops). Places throughout the rest of the Country that claim to make Philly Cheese Steaks just do not get them to taste the same, and one of the reasons is that they do not use extra-virgin olive oil. Anyone who says that Pat's and Gino's in South Philly uses Cheez Wiz, is talking about the way they make it now. The old authentic way uses Provolone Cheese. Also, using deli roast beef is the same as using top round sliced wafer thin or frozen Rib-Eye roast shaved on an electric slicer. I was born in 1942 and this is the way they were made way back then. We are talking about authentic, not the way they are made now. If you make any changes with the ingredients or the directions, it will not be the same. Make it EXACTLY as written here.
This is a fabulous recipe for oven fried tilapia slightly adapted from Paul Prudhomme's wonderful "Fork In The Road" lower fat cookbook. I served this for dinner with family and it got rave reviews. Even my picky 5 year old eater enjoyed it. The ingredient list here is long, but is mostly spices. Please don't be put off, this is wonderful stuff and once you get the spice mixture combined, quite easy to make.
This is an awesome low-carb version of loaded baked potatoes, and tastes far better than any version of mock potatoes that I have tried. In fact, this dish is soooo good, you will not believe it! I do not remember where I got this recipe, but it is a fabulous side to any low-carb meal. You will be pleased, I promise! Yum! Yum!
I actually won a cash prize in our local paper for this recipe. My husband and I will eat the whole thing ourselves - make several if you're having guests. If someone you love doesn't care for cauliflower, this may be the ticket!
Taste of 2008! This is a nice change from regular fries and these definitely will tempt your taste buds. Served along with a nice spicy chipotle mayonnaise it satisfies many cravings! Although these fries are done in the oven if you prefer you can deep fry for a more crispy effect. Enjoy!
Great for anyone going low carb OR who has so many zucchini, they don't know what to do!! :) We found the sauce to be very mild. I think it would be better with twice as much garlic. I boiled my zucchini slices for about 3 minutes so they were partially cooked. I wanted to make sure they were soft in the finished dish or I knew the kids wouldn't eat them. ;) The cottage cheese provides a slightly tangy note. I think we would have preferred ricotta, but that is personal taste. I use my 11x7 baking dish and got 6 pieces the size of what you see in my photos. Both of the guys ate two so it fed 4 of us, and I double the meat. Adjust the recipe accordingly for your family.
Blasting with high heat will shrink the skin and seal in all the juices to create an extremely moist and tender chicken with lovely crispy skin - and it will be on your table in about an hour. This method will also work with a larger chicken, but cooking time will need to be increased. You may adjust all seasonings to taste. If you are not a lemon lover, then you may omit the lemon juice. You really can use whatever seasoning that you like for this. I like to use seasoned salt. Make certain to use a fork and poke holes all over in the lemon, then place it into the cavity of the chicken. Roast roast as stated. The chicken with be moist and have a faint lemon flavor. I was looking for a yummy South Beach recipe to curb my Italian Cravings. I found a vegetarian lasagna recipe using eggplant slices as noodles, substituted my own meat sauce, and voila! A low carb keeper in our home! The eggplant taste is indistinguishable with all of the bold italian flavors, and adds the needed texture of the missing noodles. I've also seen zucchini strips used as the mock noodles. Try it!
Turkey legs taste great prepared with the oil alone or with the oil and seasonings both. A flavorful option is to use the oil with parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme as seasonings. You may make gravy with the drippings or use it as turkey broth in soup and other recipes. The broth is especially good in Progresso BestLife lentil soup to which you also add some leftover turkey and some turkey ham cubes. An oval slow cooker is easiest fit for turkey legs. Put an oval rack under legs and watch cooking time if you want firmer legs, often separate from broth.
