My wife was feeling sick the other day, and just wasn't in the mood for our traditional "under the weather" chicken noodle soup. So I headed over to the closest fresh veggie market (La Frescacita) with plans to pick up stuff for a hearty vegetable/chicken soup. They had a pre-wrapped "fresh soup vegetable" selection that I figured was worth a try. After making it AND LOVING IT, we've decided it is now our favorite chicken soup. Plus, it helps that it is extremely easy to make. On a side note, I'm really slow chopping up my vegetables and whatnot, so the prep time might not take you as long.
I feel sad for anyone who has never been to a Cheesecake Factory restaurant. This cheesecake is out of this world! I think you will find the nut crust quite unusual. Sometimes I double the crust portion of the recipe just so I can have a thicker crust.
This is the consummate cheesecake. You won't want any other's after you've had this one. I like to take my ingredients out on Friday morning before work and bake it Friday night when it's cool and quiet. That way it's ready to serve early Saturday.
I never did like artificial sweetners, but there comes a point in life where it's worth getting used to. This cheesecake is lower in carbs and calories with the use of Splenda. If you prefer a traditionally sweeter cheesecake see my recipe for recipe #381817.
I got this from a BHG.com "Cook to Cook" discussion group thread where people shared their "I can't believe something this good is so easy to make" recipes. It was submitted by mardee1 and deserves repeating on Recipezaar.
After trying and trying different cheesecake recipes, I formulated one of my own. I do believe this is the perfect cheesecake. Very simple with a wonderful taste. You will need a 10 inch springform pan and to prepare a basic graham cracker crust beforehand.
This is a favorite cheesecake bar recipe. One that you can prepare and have a variety of toppings that your guest can build their own cheesecake. Toppings such as nuts, chocolate, carmel sauce, strawberry sauce, ice cream topping, whip cream etc.
I was never a lover of cheesecake till I came across this recipe (now I cant keep away from the stuff :) ) I've served it over and over again and always get rave reviews from friends. It's a very easy recipe...beginner cooks can put this one together no problems.
When I orignally posted this back in Jan 2002, I said I had not tried this recipe because it looked like a lot of work. Flash forward to Easter 2007..I finally broke down and made this, and I was right, it is indeed, a lot of work. But it is so worth it. This tastes just like the Junior's cheesecake I ordered off of QVC. I made it again last night for a co-workers birthday and brought it in...everyone was swooning and begging for the recipe! Next time I make this I will make the sponge cake layer a day ahead and just cover it tightly with tin foil and leave it out overnight. You do want to make this a day ahead before you plan to serve it as it's best chilled for at least 8 hours. Enjoy!!!
I love THIS cheesecake! I love cheesecake period!! This is especially good with the fresh fruit and jam...Everyone thinks I bought it at the bakery, it's so beautiful...good too! The credit is not mine; it came to me via a recipe card...hence the picture.
