If you are a lover of Indian food, then you will love this dish! This is a skillet version of the Indian biriyani, no need to bake in the oven it is all made in a skillet with the same authentic flavors, do not use low-fat yogurt for this or it will curdle, use whole milk yogurt. If you have any saffron add in a pinch to the rice when it is cooking, along with a very small pinch cinnamon and 2 teaspoons salt, use 3 cups water or chicken broth with 1-1/2 cups basmati rice. You can adjust the jalapeno peppers and chili flakes amount to taste and also use as much curry as desired.

This recipe is easy to fix and my kids really love it. It's also easy to add your own special touches to it.

This came from a little pamphlet from Grey Poupon. I keep all ingredients on hand to make a quick, flavorful dinner in a hurry. It has a nice mix of ingredients and flavors.

This is an interesting way to cook the lamb and a vegetable gratin at the same time. The juices from the lamb drip into the gratin dish placed underneath the lamb. It's good, and a fun way to cook, but beware, it can get rather messy.

This is an easy and tasty dish from the American Heart Association Cookbook.

    Recipe #188712

I clipped this recipe from the January 2004 Bon Appetit, and just got around to trying it... we absolutely loved it and I can't wait to make it again. It's really a quick and easy weeknight supper, and it makes the kitchen smell luscious! Since this serves 12, I cut the recipe by 1/4 when I made it (and it fed two happy people), but I'll include the original measurements and serving size here.

    Recipe #104639

This is an anitajoye original and it is delish! It's great crockpot dish. Start it in the morning and it will be ready for dinner. You can serve it over Basmatti rice, or eat alone as a soup

    Recipe #85865

This is a fave in our household. Very hearty and warming on a frosty winter night. Affectionately known as 'hippy hotpot'. I chop the veges finely to ensure even cooking.

    Recipe #120636

One of my mom's oldie but goodie recipes

    Recipe #40294

These are a bit time consuming to make, but believe once you make, you will be asked to make again and again. This is vegetarian, but you could add a bit of cooked ground beef to rice stuffing mixture, but awesome even without. Many mediterraen countries make these, but this recipe is authentic Egyptian preparation. Enjoy!

My Mother In Law gave me this recipe years ago. I believe she got it out of a magazine. It is different than any other beef stew out there. The sour cream and nutmeg give it such a wonderful flavor and the smell as it cooks is indescribable. While I am posting the original recipe, which is AMAZING, I make a few changes for calorie reasons. The original below calls for regular sour cream, I always use light sour cream and it comes out great. I also spray PAM in the oven proof dish, and then add 2 teaspoons of oil rather than use a full 2 Tablespoons of oil and the stew is fine.

This is a great change from the usual tacos. It's always hit every time I serve it!

    Recipe #199173

A nice lemony one pot meal. I serve with a tomato salad. This comes together quickly and is an easy weeknight meal. Don't remember the source so I'll take credit.

This is to me one of my comfort foods. Great with some corn bread!

    Recipe #197904

This is my favourite cabbage roll recipe. They are low-fat, easy to make, produce high yield, and are cleaned up whatever party I bring them to. They provide all four food groups in one dish.

My Dad's Aunt use to make this for us every year when she'd come out to visit from New York. It's an old family favorite!

    Recipe #181427

This is the most awesome beef stew. For years, I tried to make beef stew that was thick and yummy, but ended up with beef and veggies in greasy water. Then I found this recipe and have used it for years! I usually serve with cornbread. (Cooking time includes slow cooking in crockpot!)
